Well, here we are proving the naysayers wrong. We are shipping products with PureOS and we achieved exactly what we wanted: convergence between the desktop/ Librem laptop and the Librem phone. Here is a quick look!

@purism I am testing libadwaita for two days now and I have to say that the design and the adaptiveness of all the layouts is really awesome! Well done I really love to use your work! I hope my app can contribute to the ecosystem soon.

@purism

You can't show off a nice dock like what and not tell us where to get it!

@kop316 @awai @purism FWIW Digitus DA-70882 is the same thing, just under a different brand (although the Baseus one also has a USB-C cable and rubber spacers in the box :))

@purism where can I buy just a dock like that? I don't want to buy a generic one that might not work with my lbrem 5

@purism For people who love resizing windows to cheeky background music.

@purism This is something that a lot of people seem to have a hard time understanding. Microsoft and Canonical both pulled funding for their efforts, Continuum and Convergence, respectively.

For those not getting it, it's a workstation that fits in your pocket. You can take it to any dock and just drop it in. Your apps, settings, documents, etc all come with you.

FYI the concept of convergence was introduced by KDE developers when Qt launched QML. Plasma before and Kirigami framework for applications later were developed with this in mind but we needed Wayland for this to happen. Indeed Canonical developed its alternative to Wayland, later abandoned, and a QML-based DE. GNOME having a more streamlined codebase was able to switch to Wayland early while Plasma's Wayland session is still experimental today.
