Don't know why I didn't add this before, but now awesome-humane-tech has a dedicated #Fediverse section.
The grassroots nature of the fediverse, its culture and the openness of the protocols used, such as #activitypub make it the 'land of promise' for humane technology with regards to social networking.
It's #awesome!

I hope Comradery ends up as promising as it looks. A co-op for ongoing creative support instead of having to use Patreon. Personally, wanting to focus more on my writing and having more options in the future for being financially supported is exciting.

@michel_slm Yes I’m eager to see where BlueSky goes, though it’s been so quiet I’ve been lowering my expectations
Is anyone familiar with the project called LibreSocial? They are building a p2p social network that is decentralized, privacy-respecting, and extendable.
I would be very interested to read a comparison of Fediverse vs. LibreSocial (vs. Solid?) projects, to understand their different goals and different approaches to common goals.
@strypey This is super. It's always struck me that a major problem with the food system is that information doesn't travel well along supply chains, besides price information. This is a great way to have more information provided to consumers than simply price.
Mark Zuckerberg is now worth $100 billion. Another reason to switch to the fediverse: stop fueling this massive global inequality

@jeremiahlee This study went on to be published in the top economics journal. Facebook is like other addictive substance and habits- cut users off and they find they are happier. This is in fact a large part of what drove me to join the Fediverse, because it is software designed only for social networking, and not also trying to keep you addicted.
"The cash was flowing in, and companies around Silicon Valley and beyond adopted the same basic strategy: first, grow the user base as quickly as possible without worrying about revenue; second, collect as much data as possible about the users; third, monetize that information by performing big data analytics in order to show users advertising that is narrowly tailored to their demographics and revealed interests; fourth, profit."

Pixelfed Loops is a Vine inspired experiment based around short looping videos, the beta launched in early 2019.
We have decided to retire this experiment and focus on an improved layout inspired by TikTok.
@jeremiahlee Very cool!
I am deleting my Facebook account on September 1.
I designed a special page on my website and a drip marketing campaign style series of posts for my friends on Facebook. I know this isn’t Facebook, but I will crosspost the content here.
