@linuxjournal Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, I would just rather companies not copy Apple designs. I get why they do it, but I'd be more apt to support a unique design that might make people think of Linux when they see it.
@ashtons Hmm, yeah, don't think I've heard of anything like that.
@linuxjournal Couldn't agree more.
@ashtons Something like F-Droid?
@ashtons Well, looks like it was there at one point? Not sure why it wasn't there for you, but at least I know I'm not crazy, lol. https://www.tenforums.com/attachments/tutorials/220237d1547055736-clean-install-windows-10-a-local-1.png
@lunduke Condolences to you and your family. I also lost a close family member a few months back. Those who pass on still live on through the impact and memories they made with those around them. Sounds like your dad was an amazing guy and made a really positive impact in your life. Hope you can take the time you need to work through everything.
@lunduke Been using ConoHa as my VPS provider for years, but Linode apparently also has servers in Japan so why not, I'll give it a try.
@Purism Looks like my Librem One subscription expired, but I can't find a way to reactivate it. Could you point me in the right direction?
@guilg @purism I get the complaint and haven't looked at any recent benchmarks, but how much more performance do you actually get from the newer CPUs? For my workflow these specs would be more than enough. And remember, you're also getting peace of mind with privacy, security, and freedom built in from the ground up.
@ashtons Maybe Steam Play (Proton) would do the trick? I've had some look with it with a couple of games.
@ashtons I'm pretty sure you can still do it, but you have to click on some greyed out hard to see text on the bottom left of one of the setup screens. At least I'm pretty sure that's what I did the last time I had to install Windows 10.
@linuxjournal Good read, actually didn't know the kernel kept track of function calls like that. Definitely makes sense to make it as unpredictable as possible.
@lunduke Probably shouldn't comment until I've actually seen the video, but as long as it's opt-in and not opt-out (or outright forced), then I don't really have a problem with it.
@david I've used the extension for years, but never knew of EASE. Think I'll turn it on for the day and see how it goes.
@lunduke I'm forced to build infrastructure and applications on top of Azure by my company and feel as if I'm slowly slipping into madness... Can I take legal action?
@lunduke We actually had the same exact family night - pizza + The Secret Life of Pets => sleep. Can't think of a better way to spend a Friday night.
