@mauricepinzon @adamdavidson also important to note that you are hosting your own instance; you should get to define its own culture. As long as you are broadly staying within the bounds of the Covenant that binds Mastodon instances you should be free to moderate as you see.
It would be different if you were a large group of users who had descended on another instance and were actively undermining their local culture.
@rauschma Have you seen Tauri? It doesn't explicitly use the FileSystem API but as I recall it embeds a browser (Webkit) that be made to do whatever.
Granted its been a while since I caught up with the project so it may have changed/I could be misremembering, but its probably worth looking at.
@mhall119 @danirabbit well it sure beats "geriatric millenial"
@danirabbit @mhall119 youth turnout was big. Though I don't think that I count as "youth" anymore for the exit polls 😔
@mako you ordered a laptop and they packaged in a building?! That's some premium packaging right there
Why use a #cw for #news? Here is one reason.

"The impulse to consume negative news can be difficult to resist. 'We are evolutionarily wired to screen for and anticipate danger, which is why keeping our fingers on the pulse of bad news may trick us into feeling more prepared,' says Cecille Ahrens, clinical director of Transcend Therapy in San Diego"

@cassidyjames The profit motive for Google is reading your email for data. As long as it's cost effective to try and scan posts and create targeted ads there's going to be a similar push on here. Ultimately I expect that some servers will start encrypting their posts.

I am SO proud of Maryland’s new Gov-Elect @iamwesmoore. A superstar who is brilliant and dedicated. He is the first Black Governor in the history of the state and only the third Black Governor elected to office in the U.S. since Reconstruction. Wonderful! If you don’t know him learn about him!

I've seen a lot of people asking about DMs here. I wrote an article about this today, but thought it'd be more useful to just say it in a post: Privacy is not the purpose of DMs. DMs are a courtesy to your followers. You’re communicating with another user directly because the information is of no value to anyone else, and there’s no reason to flood other people’s timelines with irrelevancies. Do not use DMs to discuss personal or sensitive information. (Use Signal).
@ProfB as a PA resident I'm only listening to my local state races and gubernatorial. I refuse to raise my blood pressure tonight for something that won't be over for the next ~48hours.

@drcrypt this is a joke right? What tenant is going to tip their landlord?
#NewHere I think it would be a good idea if everyone, especially the ones that are here for a few more days told the first day-ers to follow @feditips. The locals are starting to give of some vibes of slight overwhelm, explaining CW's answering the same questions over and over...I'ts a bit much to take in all at once I think, on both sides. Life without algorithm is like culture shock, you have to relearn basic social rules.
