@adamdavidson Adam, I think you're striking the right balance. Yes, there's an established culture on Mastodon, but there's also a need for flexibility because an abundance of new people with varied interests will now be joining the fediverse.

@mauricepinzon @adamdavidson also important to note that you are hosting your own instance; you should get to define its own culture. As long as you are broadly staying within the bounds of the Covenant that binds Mastodon instances you should be free to moderate as you see.

It would be different if you were a large group of users who had descended on another instance and were actively undermining their local culture.
