Could/Would you use this keyboard with these keycaps?

And no don't give me your usual anti-capitalist response, unlike in China this isn't even to protect their business — YouTube doesn't show ads to Russians and doesn't pay Russians who post their videos since 2022, they are doing this even after the prosecution of their own employees in Russia. In this case it's censorship for the sake of censorship, there are no commercial interest involved, at least no obvious ones. There might still be less obvious 😏

Imagine some entity that you consider absolute evil (most would probably think of their own government or something with three letters in its name😉).
You did? Google would probably cooperate with them willingly!

YouTube has begun blocking opposition content at the request of the Russian authorities: agents.media/youtube-has-begun
"Opposition content" in this context is Russian language videos on military service evasion!

Cross-platform native C executables? Sweet.

"Cosmopolitan Libc makes C a build-once run-anywhere language, like Java, except it doesn't need an interpreter or virtual machine. Instead, it reconfigures stock GCC and Clang to output a POSIX-approved polyglot format that runs natively on Linux + Mac + Windows + FreeBSD + OpenBSD + NetBSD + BIOS with the best possible performance and the tiniest footprint imaginable."

I do use syntax highlighting, but mine is still rather tame and I'm fine without it, to me it's more like "If it's there — why not?"
And I'm not really into color diversity myself, I even use Dark Reader to tone the colors down in Firefox. And yet, monochrome doesn't have to be black and white, I for one use shades of gray and greenish yellow 🤷

The matrix.org homeserver has been struggling with load over the last 24h (thanks perhaps to Slack for driving users our way: arstechnica.com/tech-policy/20) - we're working on fixing performance. Folks on other homeservers are of course unaffected. Apologies for the inconvenience. status.matrix.org is tracking the incident.

Your reply set my mind off wandering and this is what I came to: you know what vacuum cleaner is called in Russian? Пылесос! Its literal translation is "dust sucker" — and it's one of the rare occasions when Russian is very on point: this thing isn't about cleaning and has little to do with vacuum — it just sucks!
In our childhood the authorities (mom) have often made us clean our rooms and made us interact with the machine for that. Some of us grew up and adopter the behaviour — doing that to their own children, turning that into a tradition. For how long are we going to live under the boot heel of the machine? We have to fight back!
But there is more! Ever wondered why the so-called vacuum cleaners were the first to adopt the so-called AI? Some say it's a mere coincidence or even technology well applied, but I don't think it is! Oppression used to be just forced labour, but in the XXI century it's surveillance! And the machine follows that to the letter! Now they spy on us and report to the corporate overlords: https://www.technologyreview.com/2022/12/19/1065306/roomba-irobot-robot-vacuums-artificial-intelligence-training-data-privacy/
What is the so-called "vacuum cleaner" called in your language? I want brave people from all around the world to start speaking out against our pneumatic oppressors that became a symbol of tyranny! We have to take our communities back!

If you're looking to host your very own single-user/a-few-users #fediverse instance, you cannot go wrong with #snac. It is simple to install on Ubuntu and works very well with some really solid clients. It is also written in C, so it is fast, with few dependencies. Great work @grunfink@comam.es, you've got a new monthly supporter on Ko-fi!
