Maybe it has to do with whether is country is a popular tourist destination. In countries with a steady tourist flow people are more used to the outsiders and see then as an opportunity: to have good time, earn some money maybe — rather than a threat 🤷

Sometimes I start thinking to myself: maybe I'm too paranoid to expect that from people? But then I remember all these stories, sometimes firsthand experiences from people whom I have no reasons not to trust, and even my own experiences — hardly tragic, but easy to extrapolate — and I'm like: nah, better safe than… waking up without a kidney in a rundown shed I see for the first time 😅

На самом деле меня всегда забавлял этот конфликт в силовичьей голове между желанием всё запретить и не пущать и соблазном возможностями слежки, которую открывает повсеместность всех этих гаджетов: как бы так сделать, чтобы в Интернете были только Вконтакте и ГосуСлуги — но чтобы люди продолжали хотеть этим пользоваться? 🤔
