Yeah! He staged it when he was fighting for the office the last time, but they found out! He didn't want to do it voluntarily so they had to improvise — you can't claim being a conservative and not respect the tradition 😏

Don't they chop one of your ears off when you get nominated for presidency in the US?
Like in that game — Assassin's Creed… but with ears! Which is way cooler! 🤩

@niutech
I admit that WebPee is clearly superior to GIF in this particular case, but…
It's ~4.5 times vs over 52 times smaller 😄
Sure, that H264-encoded MP4 is lossy — grossly so, but as you can see, so is that WebPee — it's basically a VP8 video in a trenchcoat.

@niutech
Yeah, but none of the software I use is built with WebPee support, I can still download and convert it, but most of the time I don't bother 🤷
Also, why GIF? If it's one of those point and click animated images, why not make it a regular video without the audio track? Whatever can open WebPee, can open a video too — I thought it's quite common these days, whatever people send to each other as GIFs are in most cases short videos.

Today I discovered a pretty cool utility for listing USB devices! 🔌

🌸 **cyme**: A modern and cross-platform lsusb!

🔥 Displays manufacturer, serial number, speed, current information (mA) and more!

🦀 Written in Rust!

First binsider, and now this! You are upsetting people of Fedi who keep telling me that Rust is for web things only 😜

@gordoooo_z @mcc I started using Marginalia and RSS, then ditched a lot of mainstream websites and services. In turn, I did end up finding my niche life-changing site(s). It's possible, it's just not advertised! The old net ran on "explorer" because you had to find the content yourself... I search around often when I start to get into a net-slump and It's very rewarding. Find someone you like and check out their web-rings, or the people they follow!

“Deploying a basic website. Step 1, setting up Kubernetes…” <immediately closes tab, muttering Do you cloudhumpers even hear yourselves talk.>

Ну да, ясно 😉
Я даже знаю про какой реальный продукт это могло бы быть написано 😂

Yeah, I get the idea. That is important indeed. Good luck!

But what about immutable infrastructure?!!! 😤
How would we reproduce the problem when reporting it to our dev team in Slovenia if we encounter a bug in one of the microservices…
Notepa… What?!!! You aren't even on Google scale? How dare you!

No-o-o!!! 😱

Sorry, I'm allergic to WebPee 😅
In any case, this wasn't a critique on my end, not a request for a fix — I'm just genuinely curious why it's so common.

@charlie_root @3T @dcc @kirby
I'll at least listen to it to the very end on YT, not sure it would get counted though as I only have a bare minimum of scripts allowed there 😅
I wish I could do more, but I don't have Google account anymore.

@JoseMariaHDZ
Speaking of C&C: Nyerguds' patch is exactly that, it was born out of genuine desire to get the game running on modern systems, but became so much more. It's now considered a must have for Tiberian Dawn and AFAIR, original Red Alert too.
So there are a few good things born out of this too — with modern games none of that is possible of course, they just shut down the servers for good and that's it — game's dead 😩

@JoseMariaHDZ
Sometimes one become the other with time. Game publishers often abandon games until the right time comes to milk the game's already grown up fans and they dig them up in the attic. When the game gets abandoned, but people want to keep playing, the community often steps up to at least fix old bugs, oftentimes this results in other things — such as facilitating modding the games which originally didn't have modding capabilities.

@servo
I wonder why text in the address bar is that way, I observe this in a lot of software in early stages of development: text not being properly vertically centered in a box having only one line, this has to be something common 🤔
