Don't worry, Apple isn't much better in this regard — typing this on a 2011 MBP with fried AMD GPU: Apple had been refusing to admit this problem for four years (!) before starting this replacement program: https://9to5mac.com/2015/02/19/macbook-pro-repair/
My unit kept working fine and died in about a couple of months after the replacement program was over 🤦

He-he, I'm not sure about this newer thing and it's not that prominent in the video, but original LQ-100 is QUITE loud!
I can't hear the music I listen to at medium volume from the outside due to ambient noise at daytime, but I can hear the printer quite well. I think one of my neighbours got themselves one of these beasts as I can hear this noise from time to time and it's hard to mistake it for something else 😅

Wasn't that problem supposed to affect only a limited subset of desktop "performance" chips? 🤔
I'm not sure what they put into mini-PCs nowadays but they used to come with same CPUs they've been using in laptops.

Wow, it even supports the Android phone I have!
Unfortunately only a 12.1-based ROM. Right now I have an AOSP 12.1-based ArrowOS on it, without PlaySevices and most Google stuff anyway. And as it also has Sailfish and Ubuntu Touch, I won't be able to use it with locked bootloader, not that I'm interested in that aspect of security anyway.
So for me it's probably not worth it, but looks interesting nonetheless!

Also I didn't know that more or less modern models of dot-matrix printers exist, this one has USB even! My LQ-100 only supports parallel port connection, but I have a print server for it so it's not a problem.

Also, GrapheneOS works exclusively on devices produced by a company the whole business model of which is "tracking your location, habits and usage to build detailed profiles on you", so even if you are willing to invest time into not partaking in all that personally, you are still supporting it with your money.
