@newt
rm, it's CLI-based, but it's quite nice — I use it for most text documents 😏
@istvan
Going with ARM would immediately give them a user base boot and a lot of software that in many cases might be ported with minimal effort, but there are so many boards — when it comes to OS development, the bringup/boot process might be vastly different and would spread developers' resources too thin.
RISC-V is also a viable choice — it's futureproof IMO and there's not many hardware to work with.
@bjeelka
For real?! 😲
@istvan
Yeah, supporting 10.4 would definitely be a challenge, I've attempted building Apple's own dtrace tools, which work fine in 10.5, for 10.4 — only to realize that some kernel interfaces are simply not there 😂
MorphOS is at least maintained — so nothing is impossible now that Rust itself more or less stabilised, but it would still be a challenge to port it.
MUSL Linux on 32-bit PowerPC is a rare platform, but nowhere near these two.
@istvan
Yeah, modern Web is real menace!
Rust appears to be okay with everything I throw at it, I've built the most recent toolchain even for my PowerPC MacMini running Linux: https://social.librem.one/@m0xee/112755390649128715
And I'm quite surprised how little effort it takes to port stuff over: https://social.librem.one/@m0xee/112755605014075669
Go is indeed spotty though — I really like the language, but hate Google's involvement. And yes, they have implemented support for current architectures, but never cared much about legacy ones 😩
@istvan
Well, mine runs Void with all the latest updates and more or less recent Firefox (they've been messing with UI again and my tweaks stopped working, so I'm holding the updates off).
On idle Firefox' CPU usage is like 1.5-2%
With w3m I can squeeze an hour and a half of life even out of the two (!) decade old Thinkpad T43 😂
It's quite amazing how much more battery life you can get with old computers if you just get rid of systemd, with runit when computer is idle — it's indeed idle.
@istvan
My decade-old HP ProBook 430 G1 runs smooth as butter and can keep going for 4 hours easily — even on its tiny 2200mAh 4-cell battery.
I don't use Google Chrome though — this might have something to do with it 🤭
@selzero
I've never played original Maniac Mansion, but Day of the Tentacle was so much fun! I got the remaster on GOG and on the most recent playthrough got stuck mid-game and as it often happens, forgot about it entirely in a few weeks. Maybe I should revisit it 🤔
Which is your favorite between Maniac Mansion and Day Of The Tentacle?
@neural_meduza
Интересно, какова доля за пределами России? 🤔

Yes, I only use this as an excuse to post a picture of Ayumu Kasuga 🤭
@Anachron
I use logrotate from void-packages and a config file for using it with nginx I've snatched from my old Debian box and modified slightly to suit my needs.
Kinda overkill just for nginx, but in case the need to handle some other logs outside of socklog facilities arises — I already have it.
@MK2boogaloo
Setting your enemies against each other isn't considered valuing any of them 😏
@metallcorn
РосКомЧто-тоТам? 🤔
@kacperpotoczny @kaia
And it's not the only controversial thing about this phone — it has an SD card slot, but doesn't have a headphone jack! Who the fuck does that? 🤔
@drfaustz @splitshockvirus
Lots of guys who happened to drop a bookshelf on their laptop did that. Gals too 😂

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
