HiDPI mode is a quirk in every system, with Linux, like Thor said, it's lack of testing that kicks in. Most of this software is non-commercial, most don't have dedicated testing teams and pool of hardware to test it on. The devs will often gladly fix these things, but won't go great lengths to figure them out before you even encounter them. You get a lot of stuff for free, but you become the tester 🤷

@chimera@infosec.exchange They pose problems for every system, in Windows you have to disable HiDPI mode to use non-standard scaling if you want legacy apps to not look like pixelated mess — everything gets small, but at least the text is readable.
Mac OS X is just slightly better at this because the technology was fundamentally there, they could have gone for complete resolution independency after 10.5 but fucked it up big time.

@Zerglingman Yeah, same here. But I am listening to very little of such music in general nowadays. The closest to prog I listen to these days is probably Mars Volta and Tool, maybe some King Crimson — but that is far shot from DT.
I like these guys a lot: https://elephanttreeband.bandcamp.com/album/habits
They are different too — more like stoner I suppose, but I really enjoy both their albums: this one and the self-titled. They have that spirit of old-school rock music, but sound fresh at the same time.
@Zerglingman Thanks, will listen once Awake I have managed to find and put in the CD player finishes playing.
I'd also like to listen to some Liquid Tension, but I've only had one album and I haven't seen that CD for well over a decade, I think someone "borrowed" it and there it went 😔
Maybe I'll partake in some piracy later today 👉👈
Thanks for the link again!
@Zerglingman s/hate/have/ of course, I love it!
@Zerglingman
OMG, I hate DT on CD somewhere and I haven't listened to it in ages!
@oldrawgabbit I think banking apps need Play Services for notifications, banks want you to receive push notification instead of spending money on normal text messages, that is why they made this message more weird than it should be 😄
There is Unified Push of course, but right now not many apps support it, even ones that definitely should, like ProtonMail.
I think this will change with time, as more people start using it.
@yukiame I don't miss tails much, but I probably couldn't get by without cats' ears, love holding them!
Especially after they've chilled somewhere cool and their ears got cool too 😸
@yukiame What's with his ears?! Okay, I guess I'm not the one to talk, I have two cats without tails 😹
@useless_idiot Are we in equilibrium RN? So supply and demand of Useless Idiots are balanced? That is one hell of a theory 😄
@kirby Becoming Fedi-emotionally hot-pluggable is the best: you can become detached and then get emotionally reattached without interruption 😁
@piggz Sweet! Looks way better than Tooter 🤩
@theorytoe Can't you enable it in advanced settings? 🤔
Anyway, it was a joke, I shudder just looking at that image, but even NSFW and CW'd posts aren't hidden on my end, I've definitely seen worse shit.
@theorytoe This is painful to look at. Use CW next time 😂
@PurpCat
> carrying them one handed WHILE OPEN and holding them by the palmrest
Isn't this how you're supposed to carry a laptop that's "14 or smaller? 😏
I do it all the time when moving to the next room or something like that and all my laptops are in perfect condition. I have to admit, I'm a bit more nimble than drunken bear, most people probably aren't.
BTW what's wrong with UA? I don't own anything, but it looks nice for casual clothes 🤷
@theorytoe
@theorytoe Important note: all this hardware is also perfectly usable in Linux, only fingerprint scanner in my ProBook doesn't work — a pity, but not the end of the world, I've read that it works well in other models. In MacBook Pro Late 2011 everything works too — even keyboard backlight, even ambient light sensor! I've even made a script that adjusts backlight according to ambient lighting.

Any HP ProBook with Haswell CPU or newer should be able to run Win10, I have ProBook 430 G1 that is a decade old and it ran Win10 just fine, I have a MacBook Pro with i7, but even earlier microarch, and it ran Win10 just fine. I have Mac Pro 3,1 — it has Xeon, but it's 15 (!) years old, Core 2 era and it runs Win10 just fine. I don't know what's not good enough to run Win10, a chunk of wood? 🤣
It's same as 7 requirements-wise, stick 16 Gb and SSD into it — should be fine.

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
