@anniemo71
It's when you install another system on top of the one you already have into a subfolder instead of replacing it. This system can't run independently from the one you already have, but might offer a completely different experience, often more fulfilling.
It's a workaround used when you can't replace the original system — not as good, but still better than not having an alternative.
@gemlog
@inhosin Бывает и хуже: когда получилось доехать — и всё равно ни одной фотографии, как-то не до этого было 😂
@theorytoe I think he has a vastly different idea of what being based is than most people using the word "based" 😂
@GrungeQueef
@jeff Spot on! It looks like a lot of people aren't trying to have your sympathy anymore, but do their best being as annoying as possible so you can agree with them only for them to fuck off 🤣
@theorytoe When I've been enrolling into University I attended lectures for students like me and there was this one lecturer who told us: "You can actually solve scientific problems with voting",— he asked us a question and gave us four choices, the correct one was of course the least popular: "See, it's not that hard?" 😂
@jeff
Web dying would be a great thing IMO. I have recently resurrected a more than decade old ARM machine with only 512 Mbs of RAM, it's only capable to run a single window of Surf — at best, and despite that, it's still a fun machine to use as I have Gemini and my TUI Fedi and Matrix clients. There are things that are fun, they are usable on hardware 10 times less powerful than an average modern phone! The Internet definitely shouldn't be the web!

@neural_meduza Союзники обещали конечно поставить авиацию, но чтобы сразу так… Из WarCraft? 😮
@ilovepets420
Hardware real mode/protected mode switch would be perfect, but I think I've only seen a LED indicator like this on a 286 motherboard 😄

> Every time it's about cutting this or that public service or educational program.
Especially when cutting down on education and healthcare is guaranteed to make it worse in the long run. Like how is this supposed to get fixed by itself in this economy, will high-tech products start growing on trees?
I'm not even American and I still don't see how this is supposed to work, I think I see how this gets sold to taxpayers though 😩
@mjdxp Come on! At least buy him a drink 🐶
@theorytoe
B-b-but! kernel.org runs it!
E-eh… Still checks out 😂
@neko
@neko Even my Perolma instance running on an old PowerPC MacMini with only a gigabyte of RAM that hosts a bunch of other shit in addition to it and that gives DB timeout to every other request if you look in the logs looks more stable than Twitter right now 🤣
@gemlog Yeah. At least IBM has tech "muscle", some have none and just exploit the system. I don't even know why Google is considered a tech company — they don't sell tech, they sell surveillance, they just use tech a lot for that. No one calls construction company a heavy machinery company if they make their own excavators — because it's not their main source of revenue🤷
Look at the "tech" section of any news site — nothing about technology, it's for investors who base their expectations on that
@gemlog QNX was always cool, in the 90-ies there was a floppy disk image circulating around, it was bootable, had a GUI, support for dial-up modem connection and a web browser — all on a single floppy 🤯
Arachne browser for DOS was bigger than that AFAIR.
> RIM, Nortel, Commodore… management…
DEC too — not that their management was particularly bad, but they didn't realize whom they were up against, always underestimated the power of marketing.
None
Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
