I really hate the "balance the budget" mindset we have in the US
Like we have this obsession with basically check balancing being the ultimate goal of politics and it sucks. Every time it's about cutting this or that public service or educational program.
Each time it feels like a line being drawn in the sand that says "This is the best it'll be, from here on out the strings will tighten every year"

Especially when cutting down on education and healthcare is guaranteed to make it worse in the long run. Like how is this supposed to get fixed by itself in this economy, will high-tech products start growing on trees?
I'm not even American and I still don't see how this is supposed to work, I think I see how this gets sold to taxpayers though 😩
