Картина при этом написана лет 30 назад 🤦

Ну Euphoria ладно, но я тут читал, сам не проверял правда, что Яндекс выпустил документалку про фильм Ёлки, и там чёрным квадратом закрыли как герой Светлакова дружески целует героя Урганта 🤣
Если это правда, то это уже не превзойти, мне кажется.

Но дела плохи — есть такое. Даже мой проводной провайдер — самый отмороженный, никогда ничего не блокировали, запретил Proton, при чём, судя по всему, целыми диапазонами по IP-адресам. Шведские сервера всё ещё доступны, но уже как-то напрягает — пора отсюда эвакуироваться.

Да у нас людям даже запрещать ничего не надо — самоцензура процветает. Я помню как производители продуктов запереживали, можно ли теперь размещать на упаковке логотип Instagram и ссылку на страницу, хотя прецедентов вообще никаких не было.
Как в том анекдоте — верёвку и мыло свои приносят и очередь в пятницу занимают, чтобы побыстрее отмучиться 😅

Do they really place keys on top edge of the trackpad these days in most laptops? When did that happen? 🤯
How do I perform dragging with one hand on that? I thought I stopped "getting it" when they placed the headphone jack on the bottom edge of smartphone, but this… I think I'm going to keep using the laptops I have now for a while…

@Uniflame It's not about gene itself only, whether it is considered an evolutionary advantage or disadvantage is also a factor. I think society isn't up to most autistic people having several kid yet, but when society adapts so it's no longer considered a disadvantage then yes, it might happen.
I believe ADHD might be considered an advantage at some poing and I think it was at certain point in the past.

Don't get me wrong, I like ThinkPads, but from business perspective it was right. That branch wasn't profitable for them and they really wanted to concentrate more on stuff like mainframes and business applications. Things were good for them even here in Russia. A couple of my friends worked for IBM and they've sold a bunch of DB2 licenses to Moscow gov't, I swear I've seen some websites still running on WebSphere in 2015! 🤪

@curiousthinker My T43 is still good. Has its uses with TUI apps like tut and gomuks. But you're right, it's underpowered to open today's web sites in Firefox. It does fine with two tabs, but anything above that is unusable. The web is a disaster 😩

@james@mstdn.starnix.network They are! IBM sold off that branch of their business some time around 2005. I remember this transition quite well: how ugly X60s and T60s were compared to their predecessors. I remember quality contol declining, when three laptops from same batch all had different chargers… Who could've known that things could get even worse than that 🤣

Exactly! I think most electronic music producers should take them. Because when you're just filling the grid you don't even realize how unnatural this sounds like to most — because you've never played real drums. Drum machines have been available for decades, but I think this stuff is still important to master.

Oh, I see! Yeah, could make sense, but this thing on photo doesn't look sturdy enough to me. I mean, I'm really careful with my hardware, most of my laptops have only have a few scratches on them, but most people aren't, I bet they'll break such a connector in a week or less 😅

@mian It was USB 2.0 at the time, which only has theoretical maximum bandwidth of 480 Mbps and USB doesn't have DMA so it's a huge burden on CPU.
USB is an excellent interface for stuff like mice, keyboards and printers, but I hate that it gets used for things like network or display adapters.
There was Firewire which had mini connector and also had DMA and bandwidth up to 800 Mbps, but it wasn't that common in PC/Windows laptops. From top of my head only Sony had such ports.

@root There are often vulnerabilities in imaging libraries which can give you privilege escalation. First iPhones were hacked by a specially formed jpeg file, same with Nintendo DSi.
And XP still has an unpatched bug like that, it was found after it went out of support so MS just advises you to turn off thumbnails in file explorer 🤷
