@gemlog We don't have much of a choice even on desktop nowadays: it' either Firefox or something Chromium-based. If you're fine with Chromium-based, why not use system WebView anyway? 🤷
Or, you can replace it with Bromite which is marginally better.

I suppose you can't access real root filesystem then, so it's not a security concern.
They also had a strict policy about web browsers using system WebKit only, so if someone reports you can run w3m using this app, I think they'd ban it 😅

@thor My cats managed to destroy theirs despite it being indoors all the time. I feel smart for not throwing away the old one as it is now probably in better condition than the current.
These cats have really strong claws. They are not good at jumping as they have no tails, but they are extremely good at climbing using their claws. I have to put my outerwear in covers because they sometimes literally hang around when they are bored 😹

Достаточно тупая. У меня есть аналогичная машина тех же времён — T43. С теми же двумя гигабайтами памяти.
В принципе, жить можно, да я с ним и жил как-то целое лето, когда скрывался от ковида вне города, но про современные браузеры можно забыть, про веб-приложения точно. В Firefox, если нагрузить его стандартным набором расширений против всякой гадости, можно будет открыть максимум пару-тройку вкладок, открыть Skype — это смерть.
Но если именно погромировать, пользоваться можно.

Очень плохая идея! Лучше купить у себя в городе, даже если это будет в полтора раза дороже, потому что если через неделю с ней компьютер начнёт отключаться потому, что батарея не держит напряжение, можно будет её сдать.
Дело в том, что они тоже заказывают их на Алике, но они уже знают у какого продавца хорошие батареи, а у кого брать не стоит, и этим свои деньги заработали. Если батарея нужна в единственном экземпляре, лучше купить у них

I've got this Chinese phone for like $200. It has eight cores, the most powerful one is clocked at 3.0 GHz, 8 Gb RAM and 256 Gb of UFS 3.1 storage. And I've put a 200 Gb class 10 SD card in it on top of that! And I was like: wow, I remember times when most desktop computers weren't powerful enough to run Quake and now I carry this thing in my pocket 😲

Try disabling everything that has "experiment" in its name in about:config, these settings might also be telemetry-related.

@millihertz Oh, yes, you might have needed write access to dri file under /dev. Usually udev fixes ownerships and permissions for you, but if you used custom kernel something might have gone wrong.
