His case did polarize the Twitter crowd though. Some portrayed his as a hero who stopped BLM riots, others — as some demon who went there to shoot poor protesters. He was neither.
I'm sort of left-leaning myself, but there were facts that he used the gun appropriately to the circumstances and the guys he shot weren't exactly saints, but they still insisted that he shot them for fun. It was so stupid 🤦

That is debatable. I still have my old vacuum cleaner rated at 1800W and I like using it much more than the modern ones.

@furgar I've lost some weight myself recently, so no self-consolation here, and of course it's her body so she can do whatever she wants with it, but I did like the old Adele better. She just looks wrong now 🤷

@millihertz I have an old Thinkpad T43 that I still use from time to time and I've adopted this nice power saving trick: I issue SIGSTOP to all firefox processes when screensaver kicks in and SIGCONT on screen unlock. There are no notifications when I'm not actively using the computer, but idle battery life improved immensely!

Так в этом и смысл! Это делает комнаты действительно распределёнными, в отличие от XMPP. Есть недостаток в том, что служебные сообщения таким образом протекают, но это поправимо.

Значит мы немного про разное время говорим. Тогда и ejabberd не на каждом старом компьютере можно было держать. В общем, примерно те же вилы, что сейчас с Matrix.
Matrix как протокол хорош, а недостатки реализации — это недостатки реализации. При этом он актуальный, а XMPP — не особо. Я думаю, что когда пройдёт столько же времени, сколько сейчас прошло для XMPP, ситуация будет намного лучше.

На маках, кстати, был основанных на gaim Adium — вот он выглядел действительно круто! И при этом работал 😅
На айфонах — да, было туго. Был IM+, который был, кажется, даже на телефонах с Java. Криво, некрасиво, но сообщения приходят — и ладно. Айфоны и сами тогда только появились, так что это не было большой проблемой.
