@thor Yeah, same here. We're about the same age and I've had a computer since I went to school. I know what you're talking about, it just doesn't feel right without it.
The experience I've described above helped me reassess some things a lot. Now waking the computer from sleep is not the first thing I do in the morning, I follow the proper routine. After all, I can get away not using it at all: I have a CD player, I read paper books and I have my phone if someone wants to contact me…
@thor When I was hiding from COVID, I've moved to the country. I had electricity there, running water albeit not hot water and even gas which was scarce, so everyday tasks required much more effort, esp. cooking.
I had a laptop with me, but I didn't use it that much, even when I had spare time I preferred reading.
It did make me happier in a way, but I think such life is unsustainable unless you want to move out of city completely.
Finding proper balance is the right thing to do though.

Let us not forget that it is nothing like tech in its level of unambiguity and precision, and likely never will be.
Even DSM is a good place to start. Russia is way behind on accepting disorders like this and treating them so I know the other approach quite well, when society treats those as just personality traits: "You're just lazy and need a good kick up your butt, get your shit together!"
It helps other people get what they want from you, but it rarely helps you be content.

"Outsmart the city" 🤭
@Rezard
@Rezard
@thor I didn't realize Peer Gynt is all Norwegian, both the music and the original play. I've never even given it a thought 😅
@Yzexo Интересно что там за первое 😱
@thor Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive!

@parusmajor I've tried my best to read it in some way other than "heal thy burgers" before scrolling down, but failed miserably 🤣
@evelyn Backlit keyboard instead of ThinkLight? That is so un-ThinkPad-ish! UnThinkable? 🤔
@thor OMG, this thread is so funny! 🤣
@divVerent
@thor Yes, in a perfect corporate world. In reality most of the time they just pick some mid-level manager as a scapegoat, get their bonus and move on 😅
@space_cadet
@bleeptrack
"OMG, all these cables" 🤦
And sleeping at the same time!
That is priceless 😹

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
