The UK is considering limiting DOMations — not subations though, so at least some of us are safe 🤷

Nice euphemism! I'm going to adopt it 😏

I've stumbled upon it in Geminispace and intended to give it a try, but eventually forgot about it. Didn't even realise it's in Nim! Well, maybe I can even get it to run on my PowerPC machine, I did have Nitter hosted on it after all 🤔

@newt
Getting paid for fixing someone's Blenomber? Sounds like shitposting gone horribly wrong! 🫠

My cats eat out of bowls, but they can't do it if I place their bowls too close to each other — the cats start poking at each other with their ears and get distracted because of it, it looks quite funny 😹
Proper spacing solves the problem for me.

А мой — сырный! Вот бы пошёл сырный дождик!
Ой, ну то есть… в данном случае конечно рассол, ик! 🥴

Как говорится, кто такой, чем знаменит?

Me and pals on Fedi discussing how generics made Go bloated and were a big mistake… 😎

VS

People on Bull Skype discussing how Go is better than… TypeScript (?!), but they ABSOLUTELY need exceptions to handle errors and it would also be great if Go had a richer type system — but hey, at least (!) it has generics and, what's even more important, it makes reviewing… LLM-generated code easier… WTF?!!! 😮

Why, God, why?! And we sometimes HAVE TO use software made by those people! 😱

@admitsWrongIfProven
Nah, don't worry! You mentioning "fave and silence" immediately made me realise what's going on here — had you not mentioned it, I'd probably be worried.

@admitsWrongIfProven
No, I'm taking the opportunity to enjoy tech while I still can, when I find a job I would most certainly start hating computers (again!) to the point of audibly swearing at them 🤣
As for humans killing each other — certainly true. I think I learned dealing with anxiety better than a few years ago, but all this shit going on overcompensates for that in excess! I'm lucky that I don't have to deal with people other than friends and family in person much.

@admitsWrongIfProven
I'm thinking of ditching Pleroma on my instance and trying snac2 instead — it looks very minimal, would probably work fine even on an anemic machine like mine. Maybe this will improve things 🤷

@admitsWrongIfProven
Yeah, that's one of the things I hate about Fedi — no guaranteed delivery. When you're already following each other, at least you can check the other instance for your reply, but when interacting with new people, it feels weird — no way to tell if you're being ignored or if your reply just didn't go through.
I'm kinda expecting this to happen when I'm using my own slo-o-ow instance, but this one usually works fine unless it starts rate-limiting.

@admitsWrongIfProven
> Or am I confusing it for another movie?
Indeed I am! The movie I'm talking about is Metalhead, this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalhea

@admitsWrongIfProven
E-e-ehm… But I did write a reply — probably even more wordy than it should've been 😅
I've replied quite some time ago, I think in a few minutes after seeing your post. Is it not propagating to your instance?
> do you know the movie "heavy metal"?
Is it about a girl living in a small town who wanted to burn the church down, but then got saved by the town priest? Or am I confusing it for another movie? 🤔

The dog is uncanny, the cat is more like… eerie 😱
