@mischievoustomato @newt
Hey, I didn't type all that on an old phone just to get "okay", I demand a more elaborate response!
@newt
I never use my phone to entertain myself in the shittener! I use Russian history book for that, stimulates bowel movements much better 😏
@mischievoustomato @newt
The window of WinAMP running under wine inside a Puppy Linux VM running in VirtualBox patched to use kvm as underlying virtualisation technology doesn't get scaled up properly — the version of Arial font from Office'97 looks blurry! What a mess, how do people even use this shit if it can't handle even such common use cases properly! 😤
@zonk
So he kicked his disabled gay son out without his gay wheelchair? How barbaric!
@scarlett7447
The keyboards of old MBPs were certainly better than those of the later ones, copied from cheaper plastic MacBooks.
I have such machine collecting dust, but it's in a really bad shape: the case is all scratched and the display panel is broken in half (it wasn't me😱), I remember it also exhibiting random freezed when I attempted to get it running — restoring it at this point would probably cost a fortune.

Russia is particularly fucked in this regard, it has both: high tax rates and government sponsored mortgage (again at taxpayers' expense) that only prevents the market balancing keeps the prices high.
I expect this pyramid scheme that they've conceived only to rescue the property developers and pretent that the economy is still going strong, to be one of the main reasons for the economy to crash in the near future, but we'll see…
@splitshockvirus
Probably even longer than that.
I think my "Late 2011" MacBook Pro was one of the last models that weren't compliant, and considering that Apple, despite using EFI on their Intel machines from the get go, were late to the game of being UEFI-compliant compared to "PC" machines, I expect it being standardised for way longer than five years.
@dan
I didn't know cats could use a stethoscope 😺
@p @vic
I don't know — I didn't write it myself, I'm using whatever Void's xbps-src is giving me🤷
The only thing that might be different in Firefox on this machine from the standard issue Void binaries, as I still had to rebuild it because I patch the about:config preference to disable WebP support, that Mozilla has removed, back in, is that it's built without PulseAudio support — I do not enforce it for every software I run, but the flag to disable it is set globally and it gets picked up.
@Hyolobrika
Civil rational person tends to overthink things and there is a good chance, won't self-appoint him or herself as one.
So this is more of a test for whether one has balls and healthy self-esteem 😅
@hj @lain
I'd say it might make sense for a more expensive piece of equipment, but aren't these things pretty cheap? Even if returning isn't an option, selling it at a discount to the one who might like it — or not care about it, and getting another model which would suit you more, is still a preferrable option to working it around with such an add-on 🤷
@kevinrothrock
This is what Inozemtsev was talking about in his article a month ago: https://www.moscowtimes.ru/2024/10/01/spetsialnaya-korruptsionnaya-operatsiya-a143725 (in Russian)
All this "being pardoned for serving the Motherland" is nothing more than a new corruption tool to avoid responsibility for criminal offences. The legal vacuum in Russia is expanding at an astounding pace!
