Of course, maybe with some hacks you would be able to get newer OS running on your hardware, it didn't always work so well, but was generally possible with Intel Macs, with Apple Silicagel — who knows? 🤷
By that time maybe Asahi Linux would mature enough, so it can become a daily driver — but it might also not, we all know that it's just a best reverse-engineer effort by a rather small team.

The average span of support timeline for Apple hardware is 5 years (from personal experience, but according to this article it didn't change much in the recent years: https://www.macworld.com/article/673939/this-is-how-long-macs-and-macbooks-last.html )
In about two more years you would stop receiving security updates which would make your system vulnerable.

We live in a truly amazing time technology-wise: on the one hand, we have decentralised social networks, decentralised messengers, Gemini as alternative to the web, free and open software that you can daily drive, mobile operating systems that can get you through the day and even (mostly) open hardware that is affordable and widely available — on the other hand, a lot of people find it acceptable to put up with universal surveillance and be forced into using web bloat daily 😩

Well, in this sense, at least this story has a happy end because that made the author abandon VSCode for something more lightweight.
But in general, you're right, when I'm looking for software I could use on GH and see traces of npm in the root of source tree, I immediately navigate back out of it 😂

"With only my web browser open & VS Code running, my laptop slowed to a crawl",— you knacker, you've been running two instances of Google Chrome on the same machine! Poor thing! 😨
it's good to be back!
thanks to everyone today who helped to unblock me, yall know who you are ❤️
it's already been a month since I returned from #berlin with this project in tow. you know what they say, "go to berlin and build synths" is the new "escape into the forest"... it's difficult to focus without 🥬 tho :(
i'm gonna try to not let whole weeks pass without a commit on this anyway - after all, i burnt down most of my life so i can work on my projects in peace :-) ✌️
@linuxenjoyer
I prefer swearing at it 🤬
At times quite audibly! 😅
But to each their own.
But now that both of my stereo amps got fried (on the same day!), I've assembled myself an audio system out of two cans of Pringles chips — which you can turn into Bluetooth speakers by attaching… well, a speaker to them — which act as tweeters and a bass combo amp acting as a subwoofer and all of this shite in ensemble is responsible for mids… I have to admit with a bit of tuning it started sounding more or less bearable, yet… it's still quite disgusting 😖
Using a dedicated large diameter speaker just for the low end is a bit novel to me: I've never owned these "surround" thingies, always preferring a decent stereo system instead. Except for when my audio equipment broke down and a colleague lend me some of his with a dedicated subwoofer — that that was long time ago and I didn't use it for long.
BTW, this is Cruzan, like the rum. He’s my youngest son’s cat. I just spent the morning re-hanging the curtains in my family room due to an unfortunate Cruzan mishap.
He remains a very good boy though.

Боже, и на это тоже нужно с миру по нитке собирать?!
А государство тогда вообще на что — затевать это всё, да письма рассылать? 🤦

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
