Looks like Internet filtering was relaxed a bit for the weekend, I can even use OpenVPN over UDP without all the weird quirks.
There are also rumours that Instagram is accessible directly, but I'm too lazy to check — I'm not using direct connections for HTTP(S).
Is Internet censorship branch of KGB on vacation or did they decide to do this as a gift to us? 🤔

@kirby
Originally I stopped using it as I grew a considerable hatred for them as company, years later I did attempt it as a fallback because I couldn't find anything with other search engines — and the results were also meh: it didn't take some of the words into account unless I put them in quotes, and with the it couldn't find anything that I wasn't already aware of.
And I've never seen the AI thing in person, only the screenshots of it on Fedi 🤭

@GypsumFantastic
This looks like an amazing gift for a person with a sense of humour 😆

I bought this tea tray. I'm pretty sure that was the filename.

@kirby
My idiosyncrasy for WebP doesn't allow me to 😏 Otherwise Void has reasonable defaults for FF.
I wonder if there is a way to request for this about:config preference to be added back in?
The patch is literally a dozen lines long and that would allow me to keep updating it on Android, Windows and such… 🤔

@yakumo_izuru
Surprisingly, Rust itself takes relatively little time to build compared to Firefox 😂
It's build system is a mess, it even uses Node.js somehow so you can't build it natively on, for example 32-bit PowerPC.
Gladly, I have xbps-src that facilitates the process of rebuilding it: just throw the patched into a designated directory, set the vars and you can go get some tea — I would probably never figure out how to build it myself 🤪

@yakumo_izuru
I also build Firefox for 2-3 architectures regularly — I patch the option to disable WebP back in. I'm using Void and mostly I'm quite satisfied with the defaults.
Having something like Gentoo — same as you, never again! If you have more than one machine, servicing them starts taking all your time with no obvious benefit.
@kirby

@yakumo_izuru
I do it quite often as I have PowerPC machines and there is no one who would do that for me, I no longer look in the .config though, just copy the old one over and go with defaults if something gets added 😁

@kirby @yakumo_izuru
Linux kernel is still relatively smol, GCC, CLang, QT, Firefox, WebKit or, god forbid, Chrome — this is the shit that takes forever to build.

@yakumo_izuru @kirby
Computers got more performant, but software got way more complex too. I remember connecting the hard drive from my desktop that had AMD K6-2+ to ThinkPad T43 to speed things up — and it seemed like a breeze in the early 2000s. I still have that T43 — now it would probably take forever to build even the kernel on it, even running some software on it, like Firefox with complex enough websites, became a pain 😂

@gabrielesvelto
What do you mean? This is the organisation I consider myself belonging to! I didn't know it didn't exist and kinda sad it's now banished though 😏
I also always thought that separatism was punishable under the Criminal Code of Russian Federation and there was no need to ban every organisation individually — especially making them up 😂

@oldrawgabbit
I start feeling awkward as people are looking at me in a suspicious manner — and suddenly I realise, there was this big soccer championship (I'm not into it) held in Russia, that evening was supposed to be a match Russia vs Egypt, and I — a Russian, am wearing an Egypt t-shirt — that felt weird 😱

@oldrawgabbit
Something like this happened to me once: like many, I have all sorts of t-shirts from all around the world with flags of different countries and their names — tourist memorabilia. One day I have to return some equipment to the other side of Moscow — it's a fine day, I'm intending to use public transportation, I put just a random t-shirt on.

@oldrawgabbit
Did he find that horrible Russian movie in which he stars as Napolean yet? 😂
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rzhevsky
That supposedly being a 100% proof that he intended to conquer Russia (which is kinda bullshit even in case with real Napolean)

@gabrielesvelto @wyatt8740
I knew he was secretly a Muslim! That name totally blew his cover! 🤪

That Google AI thing would be a perfect teenage right-wing conspiracy theory originator.
And considering its past accomplishments: all-black US president and viking cast — it can satisfy both ends. Unite the nation so to say 🤭

@kirby
What would you do if FBI finds something on one of your wives and it would lead to your arrest? 😏

@rin
Now I can connect all my retrocomputers 🤩
Using old ISA Ethernet cards 😌
