Different ones are probably used for Stealth than for Wireguard UDP. I suppose the app retrieves it using Proton API, but I would have to handle it myself somehow. There are also encryption keys to worry about — again, I suspect, the app takes care of that currently — so many things to figure out from reading the code.
@protonmail
Using Wireguard over a TLS channel is a neat trick, but it isn't exactly rocket surgery and it should be possible without any apps. I have found Proton's fork of wireguard-go on GitHub and it looks like code for it is there and it's what the Andoid app, I suppose, uses. However current implementation uses Android-specific bits and even if I'd be able to get around that and add an option to use TLS from command line, I'd still need additional information like ports.
@protonmail
Thank you for information! Any plans to make it possible to use Stealth without any apps so I could use it on my proxy directly?
Right now I've resorted to using my phone as a VPN box, my proxy is connected to it over wireless connection and both of them are connected to a router that is in turn connected to my ISP, three devices are involved so I can just access the Internet over wired connection. Not only it's a little bit unorthodox, but it's also suboptimal to say the least.

А вдруг комбинировать как раз можно, а по-отдельности нельзя? 😼

Могут ли бота посадить за фейки? 🤔

Cute!
This thing is traditional for Russian fairy tales, except it usually has chicken's feet.

To transfer the configuration to my proxy I have to disconnect the VPN on my phone — this process is extremely daunting, I can't do this download configurations one at a time 😩
@protonmail
I can probably guess the reason why it was done: people were keeping outdated configurations, but that's not the reason to remove the option — add a warning, don't remove it for the ones who know precisely what they are doing. I'm a Proton Unlimited customer, there are over a thousand of servers in US alone, I hope at least one of them might still be accessible and I can still have uncensored access not on my phone only.
@protonmail
When Stealth protocol is going to become available on anything other than phones?
People have been asking for it since late 2022: https://github.com/ProtonVPN/win-app/issues/64
To make matters worse you have removed the option to download OpenVPN configurations in bulk.
I'm in Russia, so most servers are blocked, I'm attempting to find a configuration that might still work, but I can only access the download page from my phone where Stealth works. I don't have the luxury to download them one-by-one 🤬

I didn't own a cellphone in mid 2000s and it was pretty hard to get certain thing done already, now is the time when you are forced to have a smartphone, and one of the current ones to boot, capable of running applications from official stores that often impose a slew of restrictions themselves: Google Play services and all that 😫
It's official. After 3 months of back and forth, a major medical provider has elected to drop me as a patient for not having a Google or Apple device.
It is unclear if this is legal, but it is very clearly discriminatory and unethical.
Any tech journalists or lawyers interested interested in this?
I would like to do anything I can to ensure this never happens to anyone else.

In 2011-2013 it was a different generation of Russians — they did better, but that hardly was enough, what culminated in Maidan in Ukraine, in Russia only became a turning point on the path to solidifying authoritarianism. I remember those events well and I wanted to recapture them and explain how we got where we are now the way I see it — it's a long post and I'm only halfway finished, will probably post it later this week.

I'm not attempting to shift the blame and paint Russians as innocent victims — but blaming Russians alone accomplishes nothing and explains nothing.
As for Russians — I think lack of democratic tradition was a major factor, this explains the remaining 3 of your points, don't forget that those who should've rebelled at the time are those who are in their 50-60ies now, most of that generation still doesn't understand what's going on.

Here are other reactions from the international community: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_reaction_to_the_Russo-Georgian_War
"Most other countries called for peace, with some demanding respect of Georgia's territorial integrity while others supported Russian intervention."
"some demanding respect of Georgia's territorial integrity" — so were it Russians only or was it at least international community too who enabled Puting to carry on?

> against 2008 war in Georgia
Remember certain EU report here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsibility_for_the_Russo-Georgian_War#EU_Independent_Fact_Finding_Mission_Report
The report blamed Georgia for starting the war, stating that open hostilities started "... with a large-scale Georgian military operation against the town of Tskhinvali and the surrounding areas, launched in the night of 7 to 8 August 2008"
…and there was "... no way to assign overall responsibility for the conflict to one side alone."
It's easy to pin it all on Russians in retrospect🤷

OMG why haven't Russians rebelled against the war: https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2024/03/11/why-havent-russians-rebelled-against-the-war-psychology-has-answers-a84364
Indeed, why? What could be the reason? Hm-m-m…🤔
