@proedie
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things that can genuinely be made greener today, but a lot of things in this area look more like make-believe to me. These windmills sure look cool — but in China, where most parts for them get made, the air is barely breathable, so what's the overall effect? Isn't it just shifting the pollution to other, less developed nations?

Does this lots justify the costs of reusing? 🤔
> But if you electrify the transportation
Batteries for EVs have to be recycled too, also making them produces enormous amount of waste. The infrastructure has to be built for them.
If you compare the technology of yesterday that one of the approaches uses to the technology the other one could use in the future, everything is clear, but if we compare what we have today — not so much 🤷

I'm running my instance on a MacMini from 2005 that can't even run node.js, has 1 Gb RAM max, uses an IDE 5400 RPM laptop hard disk and is also my bittorrent seedbox 🤣
Core i5 is like a supercomputer compared to this hardware, it can probably handle an instance with a hundred of active users!

Not too surprising really, but it's nice to see some facts at last.

Sure they are! They can't be calling our phones smart for nothing! 🫠
@randahl And I'm not really accusing them of anything, I actually even kind of admire Poland and what they have achieved as former country of so-called Eastern Bloc. I even considered moving to Poland before this new round of war broke out. Now any other EU country would probably be a better place for the one fleeing Russia — and I still don't blame them, that's understandable.
I'm genuinely surprised as, like I have said, it's been declining in 2016, then I lost track of it and now boom! 😆
@randahl
Yes, this is an important detail and it's true, Poland is big for a European country. Yet, in absolute numbers so to say and outside comparison to Hungary it still surprised me.
The receipts seem to have nearly doubled (to be fair the contributions did too) since 2016 — which is probably the year I have stopped keeping track of these numbers.
Today we find out if Hungarians, who are a 4 billion euro expense in the EU, can tell the Germans, who are a 26 billion euro contributor, that no EU budget money can be spent on defending democracy, because Victor Orbán's friend Vladimir Putin says so.
Table from: https://www.statista.com/chart/amp/18794/net-contributors-to-eu-budget/
@randahl
Wow! I didn't know Poland is THAT dependant on EU money 😱
@Vonskinnback
In a nutshell I see capitalism as an attempt to channel people's greed and put it to good use, this seems more reasonable than attempts to suppress it by some external (to the individual) body. But of course it doesn't always work as expected. Besides, the individuals comprising the regulating body can get greedy too.

This I completely agree with, this is where a lot if not most problems stem from.
