@randahl
Yes, this is an important detail and it's true, Poland is big for a European country. Yet, in absolute numbers so to say and outside comparison to Hungary it still surprised me.
The receipts seem to have nearly doubled (to be fair the contributions did too) since 2016 — which is probably the year I have stopped keeping track of these numbers.
@m0xee It also matters, that A LOT of the EU budget is related to specific sector support, e.g. farming. And if Poland has a lot of businesses in supported sectors, they may receive more support.
@randahl And I'm not really accusing them of anything, I actually even kind of admire Poland and what they have achieved as former country of so-called Eastern Bloc. I even considered moving to Poland before this new round of war broke out. Now any other EU country would probably be a better place for the one fleeing Russia — and I still don't blame them, that's understandable.
I'm genuinely surprised as, like I have said, it's been declining in 2016, then I lost track of it and now boom! 😆
@m0xee please remember, this graph is not per capita. Poland only looks like a much bigger expense, because Poland has a population of 38 million, while Hungary is just 10 million. But per person it is not this extreme.
