@thomholwerda Using anything non-x86 and non-ARM might be problematic today, I have PowerMac G5 too— a lot of software requires patching, some outright incompatible, for example Go is poorly supported on PowerPC and I can't build some of my favourite software. You could probably solve this problem with that expansion card.
Having your dream computer makes you lose interest in getting new hardware I think.

@thomholwerda I've always wanted to have a pre-Nehalem Mac Pro and two 30" Cinema Displays. And I have it now. I've had it since it was still relatively current, by modern standards it's showing its age already, but I still like this machine. Mine's not maxed out, it has top CPU for this model, but I think I can put 4 more gigs of RAM into it — 28 is enough for the though. I have GTX680 with Mac-compatible firmware in it — also pretty old card now, but not too old.

Disgust would probably be a better word here 😂

@useless_idiot So when I hear this "But they hate us" now, I respond with "Well, if you start telling them they should be part of the empire, Eastern Bloc and all that, they might even punch you in your face — and they would be right" 😂

@useless_idiot I knew a few Poles in person and even online Poles are among the most fun people so I have always found this hard to believe.
The real reason is probably serf's way of thinking — when your master gets attacked you have to protect him, same here. Polish officials often voice something unfriendly towards Russia — the state, not the people — but a lot of Russians take it personally.

@useless_idiot I think they hate Poles because being Slavic people, Poles still managed to break this cycle of abuse and distanced themselves from the empire — same reason they hate Ukrainians now I think.
You might be surprised, but that's the way they bring you up here — I've been eyeing Poland as a country to move to and nearly everyone, especially the older generation have been telling me: "Why Poland? They hate us!". None of these people of course ever been to Poland.

It probably wasn't meant to be creepy, but yeah, it still kinda is 😄

@thor
The first one just screams "come here, let me grope you" to me. The other one reminds me of the "I know that feel, bro" meme if anything 🤣

No-no-no-no-no! We do not dump our cores here😊

@scarlet I don't think that it's tamper protection, they aren't signed like packages. It's just an integrity check to make sure that the image downloaded completely and that it's same as on the other side. Archives have checksums in them, images don't, burning incompletely downloaded image would be rather frustrating.
Made sense back in the days when FTP was used to download them, with modern protocols that can resume transfer and now that only few use optical media, it's just a tradition IMO.

Hey, Kirby!
There is a song named "Hey Kirby" and it's about a cat 😹

@pojntfx Now that I think about it, I've seen people coming up with worse ideas than sampling notification sounds. There is this old strategy game, Earth 2140, and it has background music featuring in game sounds. Yes, it's exactly as bad as it seems: one of the tracks had unit acknowledgement sounds — but it's not the worst part, it also had "You're under attack!", explosions and so on 😂
This made playing the game very challenging, whoever came up with it is an effing genius 🤪

M.T. Void's first album is actually pretty good. I didn't like it on first listen. I actually didn't like it even on my second listen, but now it's starting to grow on me.
It's a project of Tool's bass player Justin Chancellor and leader of Sweet Noise — a alt. metal band from Poland.
I'm talking about their debut, they were to release something new this year I thing, but I'm yet to listen to it.

Yeah, that might be VST-related. I don't have many of them and I use more or less often even fewer, only Novation BassStation comes to mind :marseyemojismilemouthtighteyes:
I've been using VST extensively when Max/MSP and Live weren't tightly integrates as it was the only way to use my patchers in Live, but it didn't crash on me even then. Omnispere looks like a rather complex thing so it might be the case. The fact that Live is cracked might also be a contributing factor — I've always liked it, since version 4 when I first discovered it, so when Live 7 was released I shelled out full price for the Suite and I've been upgrading since then, I didn't upgrade to 10 though and I don't even know what's the current version, maybe 11 or 12 already — mainly because I'm broke :marseyemojismilemouthcoldsweat: , but I also don't really see the point, they sure add interesting things, but I already more or less have what I want and I don't need something like Apple Silicon support or support for newer Windows.
Even with Live 8 and 9 on Windows I've had extensive mixing sessions that lasted days — with breaks for me of course, but not for Live — I've been saving my work, but not quitting Live. And it still never let me down.
But sure it gets flakier with every new version. Live 7 had been rock solid, I don't even know what you had to do to crash it. Maybe current versions got even worse in terms of reliability :marseyshrug:

As for disclosure of IP address of the activist, I think the whole case is hugely overblown. It was only his IP-address, not contents of his messages and I think they, being an email service, are required by Swiss law to keep record of IP addresses. But what's more important, they have never claimed otherwise. They do claim it for VPN however, but that activist didn't use it. IMO it was him who should have taken precautions.

@EdanOsborne
You can have the same functionality as you would have with Bridge with hydroxide and I think it also works for free accounts as it uses the same API the web client uses, but I can't tell for sure as I've got a paid one. Check it out here: github.com/emersion/hydroxide

@annika
In Russian «дважды два — четыре» is often used as such, literally "two times two is four", 2 x 2 = 4. So, multiplication instead of addition.

@pojntfx
I don't know of such songs, but I sometimes get triggered on hearing what sounds like default Skype ringtone in a certain song although it's not even it 😂
