@kingtor The show did an amazing job to demonstrate that — his family did support him and gave up some of their morals too, but then then there was some wake up call for them — I don't remember it too well, AFAIR it had something to do with hurting their brother-in-law who was with the DEA. It's ironic how he did it all "for the family", but in the end stepping on this path of destruction set even them apart. That's what giving in to the dark side entails! Spectacular show! 😁

@kingtor
Exactly! Even if that "dark side" is indeed part of human nature, it may lay dormant all our life and never awaken. Had he not been put in these extreme conditions and it became acceptable for him to give up some of his morals to fend for his family, he might've taken Heisenberg to his grave.
If not all, then most of us, have this dark side, but the extent to which we let it take the wheel is different.

> "It's definitely not a visa," said Dan Hamilton, a senior non-resident fellow for foreign policy at the Brookings Institution. "It's an electronic entry-point, an authorization for countries that are currently visa-free."

Yeah, definitely not a visa, looks NOTHING like a visa to me 🤣

@mira With batteries and power adapters it's more justified than with say RAM or wireless network cards — these things might explode and cause fire when not made up to spec. With latter I'd more often go with a trusted brand, with former — I'd do my best to get the original parts if those are still available.
Not charging at all is obviously bad, but a warning is acceptable IMO 🤷

@cell
What's wrong with Miss Petaluma though? 🤔
She's a pretty cool gal — federates with the usual suspects and doesn't afraid of anything 😍

This is just a fresh take on the infamous "write high, edit sober" principle 🤭

I doubt these performance gains are even noticeable at this point, in early days 10% might make a huge difference — now I have scripts disabled by default and unload unused tabs just to have longer battery life, I don't even care if it performs faster, especially if it take a synthetic test to notice that, I only care about it taking ~1% to run in the background

@nitrofurano
One more thing: you get security updates earlier with base FF, forks take some time at least for the patches to get rebased and to get built for all platforms — but I'm pretty sure it doesn't take a great deal of time 🤷
@pl @bladecoder

@nitrofurano
That's exactly what it is about — the defaults. My FF has all telemetry, WebP and VP9 disabled. Has all the necessary exts: uBO, LibRedirect, DecentralEyes, ForgetMeNot and Privacy Possum + a few others I like. And its UI is *heavily* tweaked. I doubt it's any different from LIbreWolf at this point. But were I starting afresh, I'd probably go with LibreWolf because saner defaults make sense.

Wow, you actually remember PTS DOS! 😆

Extremely fun game with a unique art style!
I've only played the PC DOS version though and it wasn't easy as this game could only use "base" memory, not the "high" one — you've got to have nearly no TSRs running, I've had to remove nearly everything from CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to play it 😄

@kirby I start seeing animations in unexpected places a lot when I'm heavily sleep deprived. But not things talking to me of course, that would be too much — just peripheral vision playing tricks 🤪

@victor
It's like people are looking for something to disagree on and be done with it, like they don't like agreeing on anything anymore.
But me personally? Fedi has taught me whole other lesson — that we don't have to agree on absolutely everything to be nice to each other. Sometimes I look and like "WTF is this person posting, this is flat earth grade stuff to me" But we can perfectly fine with each other and agree on a lot of other topics, Fedi is somewhat unique in this.

That was the result of his personality deteriorating, and how it progressed is very well shown throughout the series. Originally he knew nothing about criminal underworld in general and drug cartels in particular, about money laundering and coercing people, he was just a school teacher trying to secure normal life for his family after he's gone.

@honkwerx I don't hold China's respect for animal rights in high regard at all, but there must be a lot more people coming even to sites like TikTok to watch cute animals videos, than videos of said animals getting butchered, how come these videos do not get reported and thrown out of recommendations? 🤔
