@theorytoe Having Node.js among dependencies was bad enough, but having up-to-date Node might be a deal breaker 😛

Is that also a sin now? I might be in trouble 😅
@adiz 😲
Whoah! That's the whole new level compared to what I'm used to. Then again, maybe I just forgot about such things because I don't go out a lot nowadays and if I do, it's mosty at night time when there aren't a lot of people on the streets…
I think they are held accountable when there is some accident, but otherwise yes — no one enforces the rules to prevent them from happening and that's a problem.
@gemlog Compose combinations are usually pretty intuitive, like Compose-1-2 gives you ½, Compose-^-e gives you ê, Compose-+-"-" is ± and so on. Unlike those obscure Windows Right Alt + 0151 for long dash or Alt + 0133 for ellipsis, although I remember some of those too 😆
Anyway, wtype would probably get your issues solved — it can type any character, just bind that to a key, with Sway it's easy, I'm not sure what you are using with Wayland but shouldn't be too hard with any WM.
@adiz Yeah, exactly! That's what I mean, when there is no dedicated lane they often prefer taking pedestian space even if it comes at the price of pedestrian's safety, rather than sacrificing their own, even though rules tell them otherwise. They often act as if they do you a favour by using bicycle — and that's definitely not true. Of course it doesn't mean that all of them are arseholes, there are of course those who are polite and well-mannered, but a lot of them are like that😩
@gemlog Can't you do that with normal compose key magic? 🤔
Then there's wtype — as the name implies, it just "types" any character (or string of them) you want.
I have two dead keys on one of my computers and I just bound two unused ones to a short script that uses wtype to output the required letter depending on current layout (I parse the json output of "swaymsg -t get_inputs input" to figure that out).
@adiz In the city they are, even from pedestrian's perspective. No one seems to get my hate towards them — yes, I want to be able to walk around with my headphones on and feel safe, what's wrong with that?
I have nothing against cycling in the country, I even do it myself 😄
Odd thing is, now we have these electric scooters (or whatever they are called) everywhere and everyone seems to agree on hating them — but it's literally the same, cyclists were just as bad at using brakes.
@thatguyoverthere Exactly! But on some of my computers the hostname (and username) are in dwm's bar and as the line updating it is run from .xinitrc, I can't just kill that process and start it again, altering it would requite restarting the session. Maybe I can just change it with xsetroot and have a few seconds to make the screenshot, but anyway — it's a hassle and I'm like: "Okay, not now, maybe next time" 🤣
@theorytoe @david Dirty work, someone's got to do it 😅
@theorytoe @david Sometimes I think to myself: maybe I'm too paranoid, not partaking in screenshot threads just because my screenshots contain my hostname (even though it's usually the model of the fscking computer)?
But then I think: nah, that's just good practice 🤪

Damn, most computers I still find usable do not even meet their spec to be considered 'trashware' 😂

@coolboymew I hope she at least doesn't mind her husband playing around with Python from time to time 🤭
@shibao @theorytoe Via a crontab — to not get these messages at all 😁
@AmigaBoing@mastodonapp.uk Used to love that game. Especially the cannonball — on every level you have to find the cannon ball, once you do it, you're safe — you could throw it at enemies and it bounced back so you could use it again. I think you could also use it to jump higher by jumping on top of it 🤔
I played the PC version though.

@MirceaKitsune GDPR was good too. Chat law was bad though, not sure if that was passed. Unifying the chargers was also a EU thing AFAIR. I don't think that it's a miracle, EU looks like the only entity doing good things for us.
@moffintosh
Again, it wasn't a non-aggression pact, it was a *friendship* treaty😂
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German–Soviet_Boundary_and_Friendship_Treaty
Criticize the West all you want — you can do that without whitewashing Stalin. Calling Boundary and Friendship Treaty — that's the original name of what was signed a week later in addition to M-R pact, a non-aggression pact definitely looks like an attempt to "give it a proper spin". Don't do that if you want someone to change his mind and not only appease those who already agree with you.
