@thatguyoverthere Burning coal is pretty bad too, but gas looks absolutely scary to me. I might be making things up, but imagine there is a bigger deposit beneath it and that it eventually burns through and caves in. The combustion might be catastrophic.
Deepwater Horizon was bad enough, but here there is no pipe to sever, this thing is 60 meter in diameter.
@kravietz
@thatguyoverthere I agree, this would seriously fuck things up, but same is true for every other major dormant volcano suddenly awakening. Are odds really high? When I read about it, it didn't seem likely to me, more like a scary story type of thing.
TBH this looks way scarier as it's closer to me 😅

Soviet engineers came up with a bright idea of setting that thing on fire and it's been burning for decades ever since. Like 24/7, no one managed to extinguish it.

@kravietz
Good, that it's not it, but MITM attacks are still something to be expected. A lot of government entities and government controlled enterprises had problems reissuing their certs last year so they have started their own certification authority. They strongly encourage you to install that CA cert and Chromium reskins by Russian companies (e.g. Yandex Browser) come with it preinstalled. I bet they will start sniffing traffic with that sooner or later.
@thatguyoverthere
Well, this hold for every other conspiracy. If NWO decides to get rid of us, we're doomed too. And I might even believe that the concern is genuine if it didn't come out of the mouth of this guy.
You might not believe me, but a lot of FSB officers, both ex and acting, are also into esoteric stuff. I know from a friend, who was into these circles. So if you know tarot and all that and are acquainted with the right people, you might not need your office job anymore.
@kravietz
@kravietz Most of them are mentally unwell, in a medical sense. I bet Putin shares similar beliefs, he just keeps his mouth shut. What he says in public is reviewed by competent people so very little of it slips through, but who knows what he has told Macron on the phone.
This one — on the contrary, speaks out quite often and when he does, it's something like that. If he was into sci-fi, not those spy novels, I think we could hear something even more exquisite from him.
@Stefan_S_from_H
No, not the grass! Please, its still dirty! 😄
@neural_meduza
А, ну вот теперь всё становится на свои места.

@protonvpn But how does it measure how much bandwidth I save if nothing gets downloaded? 🤔
@PawelK
There is a Mac Mini behind it, it hosts my Pleroma instance and also acts as a bittorrent seedbox, and I used to have a speech synthesizer there that announced various events, like when when torrent download was finished. But I realized it was creepy and disabled it.
Reality got way creepier since then, maybe I should bring it back 😂
@PawelK The one behind him is indeed a pussy cat, and, this breed being smaller than average cats, she does look like a kitten.
And they do look a lot like a gang together. Or at least a band of some sort 😹
Poor chair got destroyed by little bastards 😅
@neural_meduza Он оказался простым советским…
@VBurner
It only got this bad with modern OSes. I have an old PowerMac G5 and when I boot Mac OS 10.4, I'm always like: "Whoah, does this thing have SSD in it?"
Old systems didn't have so much useless shit running in the background.
I also have and old MacBook Pro with and HDD in it, but it runs Void and honestly, aside from noise I can barely tell the difference, booting is a breeze, it takes longer for it to wake up from hibernation as it's got to read a 16 Gb RAM snapshot off HDD
@theorytoe
@thatguyoverthere 100%👍
Cloud storage in general is perfect for that. I have half a terabyte of it at Proton with my plan. I'm reluctant to use it for anything serious, but for funny pics — why not?
@neural_meduza А вот мне кажется, что нет. Возможно даже ручку бросит.
@neural_meduza Ну у нас тут не Махачкала, и Анькам будет норм 🤭
@gabrielesvelto Sure, I agree with you! Although I do receive follow request that look automated from people I have never interacted with, but the amount is negligible compared to centralized social media. I was just joking and I'm pretty sure that people I was referring to with meta-ideas how everyone here is based on a language model are joking too.
@fell Nowadays it's a matter of personal preferences and formatting tools got so good that I rarely see them misaligning things on reformatting, it's a matter of having conventions when you are working on a project collaboratively though so your formatter/linter running amok won't litter the repository with these things on every commit and ruin it for everyone else.
@fell Well, I was just kidding. No, I do prefer tabs, but I can adapt to any style that the project or config file uses. This nginx config uses spaces, should I reformat it, of course not, spaces it is. And I do have autopep8 for Python files in Vim. Guido decided that it's best, I'd do it differently, but fine.

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
