I can't even think of a good reason why everyone was pirating it. Console version of unrar was available for download from official website like… always. Even if console programs aren't your thing there were wrappers around it that made it look like a GUI app. In most cases people pirate shit they don't even need instead of using free alternatives, which if they got popular, would make piracy unnecessary 🤷

@mzeinali Great collection of apps, some of them came pre-installed with ArrowOS and I've been using a lot of them since then!
There is also a phone, as in hardware device, in the vein of these apps, and of course it comes with them pre-installed. I haven't used it myself, but I know it exists.

Если не пытаться убедить человека в том, что менять пол, или наоборот, ходить в церковь — плохая идея, то можно вполне спокойно общаться про технологии, музыку, аниме, фильмы — ну хотя ладно, тут всё же может начаться культурная война и некоторые аспекты лучше не трогать 😂
Но отговаривать не буду конечно. Социальные сети — хорошая ведь для понимания других людей, но с головой в них уходить не стоит, как и во что угодно другое.

Man, what "us" are you talking about? I am Russian myself, I know this shit very well. I just noted it because it's funny and it doesn't make sense to those who live outside Russia. Just like "progressive" stuff doesn't make sense to you. It doesn't make any of us better than the other. It's not necessary ungrounded, but it's still funny — that's it.

@voronesh234 "Islamic terrorism" has nothing to do with it. It was the same in Soviet times, long before Chechen wars. It was the same with Jews and even with Germans in Russian Empire. Certain degree of xenophobia is natural, it's a low-level survival mechanism and it often gets successfully exploited to divide and conquer.
What makes in funny is that people who take pride in "defeating Nazis" and those who have very unhealthy levels of xenophobia are most often the same people.

I don't think it's a US thing though. They are responsible for a lot of stupid terms like "Middle East", but it's not one of them. And it's considered outdated anyway.
I still find this confusion funny, calling them black while most in the English-speaking world use this term for White people 🤣

@pureevil That's right, but you probably don't need most of PyPi in cases where IronPython is used. Hell, they even have youtube-dl there, which brings in _binaries_ to do the muxing — without any coded support, but it's still binaries.
They most probably need only stuff like NumPy and it's likely it works with anything, even if extra work was put into making it compatible.
Python is hardly the best, but not the worst out there. But I agree, we need better tools badly.

@pureevil And yes there are other implementations, IronPython also comes to mind. The biggest problem with CPython — the reference implementation is that I think it still has this big interpreter lock so only one thread can be truly "pythonic", it makes it unsuitable for true multi threaded applications, this is where all other implementations come in.
