@gemlog Of course I don't think of US as dressed all-white, but I don't believe it's "Confessions of EHM" either. As you can guess, this book is pretty popular in RU. Leaders opposing the US are portrayed so benevolent that it's sickening. I know they have their own dirty deeds behind them: it's politics, you always have a compromise or two with the devil. And I know the anti-US rhetoric is used to distract people from real problems more often than it should be.

@gemlog Ha-ha-ha, no! Of course I don't think of you that way 😅
I know you try to have a weighted opinion based on many different sources. But you often pay more attention to local news, they are more detailed and they seem more "real", we get biased this way so what is closer geographically often seems more "evil".
I'm that way too, I'm inclined to see Russia's taint and I know they are not smart enough for truly Machiavellian stuff, but they are more ruthless on average.

@Rasp Easy-peasy, you can even sing "Kiss from a rose" afterwards 🤣

@neural_meduza Новости уже второй десяток пошёл 😅

@inference It'll get fixed with time, I know, but for now it's another nuisance.
Well, at least those who don't want to use wireless earbuds don't have buy a separate device for audio. I'm sure we'll go there too!
And phones will just become cameras 🤣
@thor

@inference I have a few pairs of decent headphones that I'd like to keep on using. Yep, there are "adapters", which are as far as I understand just USB-powered USB-C soundcards.
In theory it was the right thing to do. Instead of phone manufacturer choosing a $0.20 DAC for you you can at least pick a more decent $2 one 😂
From what I read, sound-related USB-stack is flaky now and it stops working when you unplug the headphones, but not the dongle itself.
@thor

@inference Another thing I'm amused with — 5G in midrange phones: newer models are often weaker in every aspect, except now you have 5G. What are you downloading there, watching 4k videos on that huge 6" screen?
At the same time midrange phones often don't have things like wireless charging — why is that a premium feature? It's not nuclear fission, it's just a coil and a tiny controller 🤔
At least now we can't use wired headphones — progress 🤣
@thor

@inference Yeah, now that I look at them, they look weak even for midrange devices. Then again, I don't get "flagship" Android devices. To me they look the same as phones 3 times cheaper. The only difference — the camera, to me it's completely irrelevant, I'd be happy with none. Looks like the progress hit a brick wall.
Resolutions — same, my phone from 2015 had 2560x1440. 120Hz, what for? Batteries got twice larger, but you still charge it every night?🤷
@thor

@gemlog Yes, It was a power play, Guaido sought support from US and didn't get anything substantial.
Even the name of the article suggests that it was a military coup, but if you read carefuly it becomes evident, only a few from the military joined. Mostly ordinary people, at least according to my sources.
After the failure US didn't even help evacuate these officers who were in danger.
To me it looked like Guaido was used as a bargaining chip. The US is still bad — for other reasons🤭

@gemlog So I don't think of him as a bad man by association only. I also don't have anything against Bolivia, I do have an unpopular opinion about Palestine, but them being everyone's dear — okay, let's not touch that for now. Other countries however do have a lot more in common than it looks like. In fact to me it looked like the Authoritarian Alliance (😅) showing unilateral support for their guy. And I wanted to elaborate on these ties too, but I have to look for this material.

@gemlog He's often portrayed as "people's man" like… You know who. And another story was about a video of him meeting with a large crowd of people. All's fine & dandy, except… people were video-edited in. Again, I didn't want to look opinionated and unreasonable so I have to find these stories first and all of that happened before the coup we discuss.

@gemlog Don't worry, I got your point, but I disagree. Maduro gets some attention from local independant (to an possible extent) press thanks to ties to Rosneft — famous Russian state-owned company, with their help he could trade oil, circumventing the ban.
There were a few fun stories, like the one when Venezuelan bolivars were brought in to Russia on mil. cargo planes but then sold on local bulletin boards. And the price was per kg! Sounds like a tabloid story, right? But it isn't🤣

@thor No, I think there is demand for their Android-based phones, they are not the top brand they used to be, but nonetheless. And their KaiOS-based phones, which the new 6310 I think is are for low-income contries, people living in developed countries often don't know what's going on there, they might even be popular 🤷

@mjdxp Someone's probably blowing the horny horn as a signal 😂

@iska@mk.starnix.network It's only 3pm, Captain! 😉

@Rezard Ну во всяком случае не на этой штуковина 😹

@katerbilbo Great box! That green plays nicely with red in your fur coat 😸
