@gemlog No, remain cheerful, show these youngsters how it's done! 😄
TBH, I think it really helps! I'm forty and they've asked me for ID when I was buying alcohol this year. Well, me wearing respirator might have contributed to that, but when I was 30-something they did it all the time, and when i looked puzzled I often got this response: "What?!!! Don't you know how bad the teenagers look nowadays? " 😂

Чёрт подери, мне нравится этот подход! 🤣

@just_like_aerin Exactly!
Phonebloks was just a concept, but LG phone was real, Jolla Phone with replaceable back panels too. Even Pinephone is (kinda) modular. Sadly, it never kicks off 😢

gun violence

@just_like_aerin
And modular smartphones… Modular stuff never becomes a thing. Except for modular synths 😄

While we're at it, an immensely useful plugin for commenting lines out: github.com/tpope/vim-commentar
Just select what you want commented out using "v", then "gcc" — done! Easy to remember shortcut.
You can, of course, do the same to un-comment lines. And it takes the file type into consideration and handles comments in css and shell scripts differently.

+1 for NeoVim. Good choice if you are coming from VSCode, it just has saner defaults.
My Vim is loaded with plug-ins, but I probably never use half of them (realistically none of them), sometimes I end up running it with an empty config over ssh just to avoid starting all this. Yes, this class browser looks nice, but I just want to comment that line out. Should've probably used sed for that anyway 🤣
@word_of_the_nerd

@styfle Yeah, but it is confusing as hell. How could they increase the major version number with release notes like that? Apple Silicon, Windows Defender, Microsoft IME? It's completely irrelevant to the platform I'm on. It's patchlevel release at best. If I was given choice, I'd probably skip this release and if they only increased the third number they'd make this choice obvious without looking at release notes 🤷
It's bullshit marketing just like Intel-AMD Mhz-PR race was.

Well, you're right, it is a textbook KGB trick — use anything as distraction and it does make sense from spin doctors' perspective, but I'll be damned, I just can't imagine a person in front of a TV who is trying to put on his/her serious face and is like: "Raccoon! Yeah!!!"
On the other hand, their agenda is so inconsistent at times as if their average consumer has memory span of a goldfish. Not that it's far from truth though 🤔
@DotardTed

@neural_meduza Опять допился до чертей… Ой, в этот раз до инопланетян!

@DotardTed @useless_idiot
You can't make this stuff up!
She literally says: "The raccoon captured in Kherson is becoming the mascot of our airborne forces, news about it are popular not only domestically, but abroad too!"
Honestly, if I was trying to do a parody of Russian state TV news, I couldn't come up with any better material. Their stuff's too bizarre! 😂

@safi3@mstdn.starnix.network Hey, the cat's got to earn its stay too 😹

@Pixificial
Technically, yes — you do get drunk faster that way, but I can't imagine drinking whiskey or tequila directly from the bottle. Works just fine with vodka, but I rarely do that 🥴

@ZySoua
THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!
Oh, wait… it is! 🤣

@iska@mk.starnix.network This did happen to me once. It was a Plextor SSD that got fried in less than half a year and it was in a laptop that I had been turning on only on weekends once a month — definitely a manufacturing defect. Easily got my money back, but I think SMART had been showing it was failing that time 🤔
Fun part: SSDs got cheaper when that happened and I got a server-grade Micron SSD which I still use today with that money 🤭

@iska@mk.starnix.network Well, isn't that odd? Your SSD looks relatively new and cool, at least something should be off, prolly not a hardware fault after all 🤷
I am using btrfs on SSD in my laptop and it's rock solid for me, but I've never used any of the advanced features.
