@niconiconi It's not just Macintosh users anymore, nowadays every other company does it, except for a few that make repairability a selling point 🤷

Wow, it's way better than what I had expected! It sure has some weird defaults and unexpected shortcuts, but what free software doesn't. Still it even has nice transition effects and the editing itself seems fluid — more than enough for most use cases, really good 👍
@drfaustz
@thor Sounds like something comedy-related 🤭

Blender, when did we get here? I thought it was about 3D modelling. I knew its functionality is going to get extended given time, but video editing?! 😲

I have an old ARM machine that only has 512Mb of RAM. Sometimes when I want to build something for it and too lazy to cross compile, I just plug an external USB HDD into it, make a file with dd on it and use that as a swap device. It takes literally days for gcc build to complete and in case of Android, I think, it'll take centuries, but it kinda works 🤷

— Hi
— Hi? Earthling, I thought you'd be like "WTF?!" when you see me
— No, man, it's you who is going to be like "WTF?!" a lot pretty soon

Если только как топливо и смазку операторов этих беспилотников 🤣

Purple Madoka doesn't look too healthy. Is this what doing good thing does to you? 🤔

@thor
Last time I built Firefox for it, I had to cross-compile rust. It's considered third-tier platform, you can't even build it natively.
I do this for entertainment purposes only, I just like this thing more than my more modern Mac Pro workstation for some reason 😁
@thor No, it's my old PowerMac G5, which lives there in the corner. I think I could find uses for it, but it's too expensive to keep the thing running all the time — these dual CPU machines drain power like mining farms.
I have Mac OS X 10.4 and VoidLinux for PowerPC on it, I sometimes turn it on just to build newer software and fix things that break. ppc64-musl is configuration no longer supported even by Daniel, the original VoidPPC author.
@neural_meduza
Даже сомнений в этом не было — а то вообще все разбегутся.
@tamtararam
There is SVDIR environment variable that defaults to /var/service and all sv commands but status honor it. You can also have per-user services, I'm not sure it's in Void docs, but you can look up how to set this up, in this case your SVDIR is set to some subdir in your home and again, all sv commands work, except for status, which requires full path.
@tamtararam
sv status doesn't work like that, you have to specify the full service directory path explicitly.
E.g. use "sv status /var/service/*" to see the status of all system services.
@thor True, but I think they rely on specialized co-processor cores a lot. The laptop I use now can't handle some 4k movies, my cheap Samsung TV does this without a hitch. Not only that, it does some smoothing and maybe even some color correction on-the-fly. I have to say, I'm really impressed by what it does — looks way better than if you connect a computer to it and play the same movie file.
@Pixificial
Oh, yes, this one's perfect!
I wish we could always use the best tools for the job, but sometimes you just have to go for the one you have on hand 😅
