Не думал, что после того, как я узнал о существовании фанфика про Светова и Пожарского, меня можно будет чем-то подобным удивить, но это звучит… интересно 😂

@thor What's so great about bread anyway, that expression is cringe 🤷
@thor A mild-mannered Ruby developer on week days and a highly dangerous international terrorist wanted in 15 countries on weekends 🤣

Nah, the cat plays too. It's just the way they do it.
I have two cats and sometimes they start running around arching their backs, making all sorts of weird noises and in a minute… they are like this (pic attached). They do sometimes get hurt playing these games, but it's just scratches — nothing too serious, and it doesn't happen that often.
So the dog got it right.

Installing something like Gentoo from stage1 is definitely a good LEARNING experience, but the guy in the video has a point. Using hard to maintain distro as a daily driver is meaningless
I had been using Gentoo for over ten years, and I'd never recommend that to anyone. It may sound like bashing your ex, but Gentoo is a piece of shit. I use Void now and updating is like "woosh!" — done, not like spending couple of hours in gdb trying to figure out what segfaults now & rebuilding it

My all time favourite pinball game is Pinball Fantasies for DOS, the Stones'n'Bones table had very cool music and SFX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0CUU3W4J1Q
> Anyone in music?
I'm trying to get back into it right now, blowing dust off my MIDI-controllers and tinkering with Ableton Live.

Actually it's not from the pinball game, but I'm pretty sure, the game used that voice synth sample too.
It's a track by Rob Sonic, I've attached the full version. The "space cadet" sample is from another old game, Gorf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adN1P_8Scks
Hence the name of the track.
It's somewhat novel to me to hear that synth loop continuously the way you did it, because in the original track it ends abruptly and the voice synth sample comes in 😁

When you have access to high speed connection and bandwidth is not a problem, check out gomuks. It's a nice TUI client in go, if you need IM only it gets the job done perfectly.
I'm not sure about bandwidth, but its battery impact is minimal on my 9 year old laptop. I have to resort to Element sometimes, but if I want to just receive notifications and be able to respond quickly, I run gomuks and it's almost like it's not there.

@Jessica The drummer is on fire! And the keyboard player is not half bad 😹
I guess the guitar is the hardest to play with paws 🐾
I wonder how would he handle the bass 🤔

And a blobcat emoji!
@thor I've seen a documentary about her, she was hanging out with black dudes in Africa and wasn't into Nazi stuff at all.
There are a lot of movies that are propaganda, but were well done and are still studied by cinematographers, like Battle for Russia or Eisenstein's films. Dziga Vertov's too, but are considered influential nonetheless 🤷
@mangeurdenuage They should let Ted Kaczynski out of jail for a day to see the minions movie in 3D 😂
@niclas
I agree with you, it's still a mess, but it did improve. At least there is STL now — no need to reinvent the wheel every time.
In the 90ies programming language not enforcing any coding style or patterns was considered flexible and good, perl being the epitome of how wrong this can get. Not anymore, languages popular nowadays either enforce syntactic sugar like python or have a formatting tool as a part of standard toolchain like go and rust.
@Archivist @Mirk0dex
@niclas Looks like about:config page of a submarine. I hope they had a simplified set of controls elsewhere and you could use those before resorting to what we see here 😅
@utopify_org
Oh, it's not that bad. XMPP was the same in mid 2000s, it was based on controversial XML, ejabberd was hardly considered lightweight at the time, one of the most popular clients — Gajim was in python, and we didn't have the luxury of modern performant multicore CPUs. I'm not gonna preach, but give it time, it'll get better!
But yeah, gomuks is cool! It doesn't do voice calls and all that, but otherwise perfectly functional.

Just in case: DMs/PMs simply don't exist on this instance as concept — don't use them, use the other instance if you absolutely have to, or send an email to any address at m0xEE.Net or .Com or .Org, but I prefer keep most communication public.
