Sandboxing looks good on paper, but with all this Spectre/Meltdown shit, Apple has this Heartbleed thing… To me it's just a waste of resources security-wise.

It might have inferior performance, but phones are so powerful nowadays that the difference is barely noticeable.

I have an old Lumia phone running desktop Windows 11 and Firefox is rather usable on it, but on e.g. Droidian it's clunky as fsck!

Replacing Google's implementation with Bromite is probably the best you can do at the moment. Mozilla tried to make WebView based on Gecko, but they've given up long time ago.

It's even better, because Android doesn't have "normal" user space I think and uses something like busybox.
But yes, despite that you can run ffmpeg in termux like you normally would.

@iska@mstdn.starnix.network @MischievousTomato @david Didn't work well on old Macs because Apple's EFI wasn't up to UEFI spec. You had to use BootCamp (BIOS emulation). It shouldn't be a problem with newer models.
