@dushman CS was an extremely popular game when CS:GO came out. This was no experiment. But if you make on online stealth RPG about lizard wizards, there kinda IS a chance people won't like it 😅
So the risks go into the price. That is purely economic shit.

@dushman Yeah, and if your expensive to produce game doesn't become wildly popular, the ones who payed full price for it decide to try multiplayer in a couple of years, they realize they can't because the servers are already down 😂
Besides, I don't think PC games are THAT cheaper. Indie stuff sure is, but games like Witcher and Cyberpunk have nearly the same price on all the platforms.
Still, most console games could be cheaper, I agree.

@dushman Paying for software is bad in general. I've payed for two MS Office licenses and I've only used Office a couple of times. Had I chosen subscription-based model, I could just cancel it. And save.

@dushman From purely economical perspective, they've got expenses for server maintenance, traffic, etc. If they don't charge you every month, they'll put it in a price of every game.
Some just don't need multiplayer. Like me actually. I've always got Live Gold at a discount. And you received two free games with it each month: one for Xbox 360 and one for Xbox One.
So it wasn't THAT bad.
I mean I was angry when Blizzard had this idea to charge you for SC2 monthly, but with Xbox it kinda works.

@allison I don't think it was that bad on launch, Halo 5 was pretty good as was the Halo "remaster" and Halo Wars 2 later. You could still play Doom and Witcher on it. But yes, MS is consistent in killing off things that could work. The idea that you could run apps with the same code base on a phone, on your laptop and on Xbox was very appealing. But then… First they've pulled the plug on W10M, then Xbox becomes a little stale and they do nothing about it. And SUDDENLY no one needs UWP anymore 😆

@allison @iska@mstdn.starnix.network @furgar @dushman Xbox might not be the best platform for such trash. I don't know if it still holds true as my Xbox is just sitting in the corner collecting dust, but it used to require Xbox Live Gold subscription to play anything online. So there is no crowd who like to get something for free, but can be lured into paying for something later. Not the right environment for all this microtransaction bullshit.

@allison I think the Switch won because the idea that you can play in on TV while docked and then take it on the road and pick up just where you left off is very appealing.
Still it's very restricted. When I considered buying one you couldn't put movies to watch on it. I mean as files. I was like: you've got to be kidding me, you could even do that with Nintendo DS. There was a Netflix app though and you could download movies/shows to watch offline, but that is just cursed!

@reddit-users-with-questionable-sanity This is just perfectly funny! I can't even think of any joke based on this, you can't improve on perfection 😆

@safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org What a talkative cat 😍
And a very energetic one for a 15 year old!

@sdbar08@noagendasocial.com Maybe the nazi-anime interbreed will save Fediverse one day… But not today.

Wow, yesterday was exactly 10 years since this album dropped! Oh my, time sure flies…

@roboneko Da-a-amn! This is sick beyond any reason! 😳

@sai Yeah, I've just realised that it it plays really nicely with the bottom frame where she also has an open mouth.
OMG these teeth 🤣

@sai Maybe not drinking vodka in the morning alone could improve his life? Well, maybe not! Maybe it's the app. What do we know, right? 🤭

@binarycat Isn't it the same as not having 1 object?

@sai Here they not only have more graphic detail, but show progressively more complex emotions, however the original VN had an abundance of silly facial expressions. Mostly Rin though.
Here is what I actually had in mind 😂
We can probably do better, but I don't have original VN on hand.

@sai There should be some sort of Trident Microsystems or S3 Graphics version — as a screenshot from the original VN 🤪

@birnim@fosstodon.org @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org When I was a child, I did a lot of stuff that proved zero immediate practical value — maybe it didn't work because no one tried hard enough? But what if I can? To prove that it can be done — well, you catch my drift.

@birnim@fosstodon.org @safiuddinkhan@fosstodon.org I don't remember where I've picked the last one from, probably Scott Sedita's book on comedic characters or some documentary, but that was not the first time I've encountered it.
As for picking thing that prove useful — that would be to practical to have anything to do with real humans. Kids have no concept of practical value and parents are often far from what we condider "being adult" to provice proper guidance — the have ambitions and frustrations of their own.
