This pumpkin is awesome! I didn't even have to scrub the insides, it just peeled off like it's an orange. This is the first time I see something like this. And it smells wonderful! 😋

Ha, it's actually quite popular in Russia! Not as popular as sunflower seeds, but there are a dozen of brands, every supermarket has them. I guess that's why no one bothers making them at home. I've never tried homemade ones, now that I think of it… I have to! Thanks for the idea!
@paraponera You were right about the skin! It's not hard to chew at all when cooked and adds a little texture.
Made bulgur with Hokkaido pumpkin and mushrooms this time — really tasty 😋
@m0xee have you tried pumpkin juice? It tastes similar to peach and carrot mix :)
@mrissi_neko Wow, sounds interesting! I like the fruity aroma of freshly diced pumpkin, I should definitely taste it. Unfortunately I don't think it's sold in my parts, it's maybe added in pureed form to multifruit drinks, but I've never seen it being used as a sole ingredient. And I can't even imagine how many pumpkins it would take me to make a glass of it myself 😅
@mrissi_neko Pumpkin isn't really a go-to ingredient here, I don't know many people who use if for anything other than gruel. Seeds are a popular snack though, slightly less so than the sunflower ones, but popular nonetheless.
Me? I absolutely love it! In fact, I'm making a very similar soup with pumpkin, carrots, beans and bulgur right now 😋
@m0xee Oh I love pumpkin in many forms :) And bulgur wheat makes great pasta replacement for soups.
@mrissi_neko Right? That's what I often use instead of small pasta in traditional Italian soups. No one ever complained about the taste, but some of my friends think that the whole idea is a bit weird. At least now I know I'm not alone 😊
@m0xee Definitely not :)
@m0xee You don't need to peel the skin off Hokkaido pumpkins, it's edible.
You can also pluck the seeds from the inner tissue, then wash, water overnight in saltwater, marinate in (olive) oil and roast in the oven. Et voilà, pumpkin seed snack. Not everyone's taste but worth a try.
