This is a bad path to go down, imo. Incommensurable values exist. You cannot simply reduce all values to dollars and think that you have somehow accounted for them. An unpolluted stream; a human life; time spent with loved ones -- these are not things which you can properly account for by putting a dollar value on them. To the contrary, putting a dollar value on these things denies their *actual* value, and so serves only to devalue them.

USB C fanboys making false claims again…

No, USB C is not "universal"

- There are litterally multiples charging protocols for each device brand, which are not necessarily retrocompatibles for a same brand. And there no compatibility between different brands. Only devices/chargers that use Qualcomm' QuickCharge (Qualcomm chipsets only but far from all Qualcomm based devices, as most use device's brand's protocol instead), or USB-PD are "interoperable" in terns of "fast charge".

They should ALL face the consequences personally.

#Brexit was created to shield the likes of Smogg & Sunak from the prying eyes of Europe's tax inspectors who were looking into businesses & individuals who made their money in Europe, but from countries registered in tax havens, meaning they paid little to no tax.

When the #Tories said "We want our country back", the "We" wasn't you & me the electorate, it was "Them", the Eton/Oxford elite who believe they were born to rule over us.

Up until this week @paulbiggar was on the board at a fairly substantial tech company that he co-founded. If you work in tech, you’ve probably heard of it; if you don’t, you probably haven’t. But then he wrote a blog post.

He’s no longer a director of that company. The CEO, Jim Rose, has clarified that Paul does not speak for them and that CircleCI “is committed to our customers in Israel and around the world.”

#Debian provides documentation packages for many libraries, languages and tools. Why I like it so much?
- No matter how good your uplink is, localhost is faster
- Sometimes connectivity is poor or absent (on planes, country-side etc)
- Grep is faster that any search engine
- You can save on battery and metered SIM data
- Debian removes privacy-breaching images, javascript, cookies, ads
- Installed documentation is always at the same version as the language/tool/library

"AI is a liability not just in the financial sense but also in the ethical sense. It promises wage savings – despite being extremely expensive in terms of training, development and environmental impact – while encouraging indifference to human labor, intellectual property, harmful output, and informational accuracy. AI invites companies to remove people from the equation when they often add value that isn't obvious from a balance sheet."
