I’m getting real sick of a certain small group hammering on the absolutely false assertion that criticizing Israel is always anti-Semitic. They’re relying on people conflating antisemitism couched in political analysis (which is indeed a thing that happens) with sober criticism

Given that my family fled the Holocaust, and I grew up with those stories and lessons, I am very aware that antisemitism is a real thing and a serious problem. But:

It’s not antisemitic (or even “anti-Israel”) to have a problem with how the Israeli State is conducting its affairs

It’s not antisemitic to call out Israel’s apartheid policies or the need for the Palestinian people to be treated justly

I'm sadly unsurprised that the striking miners in AL & KY have gotten very little acknowledgement from the so-called left. They're rural, they work in a polluting industry, they probably watch NASCAR, and look they might have voted for Trump...so fuck 'em, amiright?

The difference in coverage between the Warrior Met strike and the Amazon union drive is, to my mind, very telling. Amazon is hip, coal mining not so much...& we wonder why we're so politically impotent, smh.

The fact that so many people (most recently Jen Psaki in talking about Bezo's ride on the cock-rocket) still use the term "American exceptionalism" -- and appear to actually believe that the US is exceptional (like, in a good way) -- is proof positive to me that I live in a country that is ruled by sociopathic nut-jobs. Trying to find scholarly papers on the fragility of software monocultures... there were a few early papers that pointed out the huge vulnerability of massive institutional networks (e.g. the UK's NHS, brought to its knees by Wannacry!), and then there's a huge glut of papers saying that "monoculture's aren't necessarily the problem"... with authors from/ funded by the Microsoft Corporation... they've successfully clouded the waters to neutralise this attack vector on their global dominance.
