I'm happy that http://Rocket.Chat is now part of the Nextcloud ecosystem. Another great chat app additionaly to Nextcloud Talk https://nextcloud.com/blog/rocket-chat-nextcloud-integration/
Finding it hard to believe that the "everything is Russia's fault" narrative isn't being driven by #capitalism; it just seems too much like the convenient and common distraction technique used to divide us. Blame those people, not inequality!
Tomorrow: Two bills to regulate social media are making their way through the Georgia legislature. Join Electronic Frontier Alliance @ef_georgia for a discussion on what they would mean for your speech and privacy online. https://www.eff.org/event/georgia-legislative-proposals-regulate-social-media
Microsoft's Office 365 encrypted email sucks hard! The most annoying thing to receive is an email from someone whose company has standardized on it. Supposedly works seamlessly if the recipient uses Outlook. Fuck Microsoft's anti-competitive behavior!
Be on the lookout in your neighborhood for ShotSpotter microphones that are collecting data that can be used by police and courts. Usually placed in minority communities. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=shotspotter&t=brave&iax=images&ia=images
What is progressive enhancement?
It's the idea that your site should be perfectly functional without CSS & JavaScript. CSS & JS should be enhancements, not requirements.
This way lack of browser support won't break your site, just little nicities around the edges.
Heck this is probably a good way to prototype your web UIs: Get your text usable before your HTML before CSS before your JavaScript!
Here's a good vid: https://briefs.video/videos/is-progressive-enhancement-dead-yet/

All Microsoft products and creations are anti-FOSS. Remember that before you use VSCode, Bing, C#, Typescript, GitHub, etc.
If you live in the vicinity of Brooklyn, NY, and happen to be looking for a job in #cooperative development, the Center for Family Life is hiring:

It seems the GOP is using Russia's attack on Ukraine to call for more USA attacks on the environment in the name of cheap fossil fuels.
Here's what we found:
We found unnecessary permissions, insecure protocols, and poor security design in all five brands of the 90+ models of small office/home office printers we tested recently.
Each printer requires some type of critical permissions on its mobile app, requesting location information, account management permissions or contacts. None of this access is necessary for core printer functionality.
The flaming pedant says you still have 200 years until "twosday".
This is good news, but the big task will be putting the infrastructure in place for people to drop off old batteries like used motor oil (which has gotten harder to recycle in some areas). https://newsbots.eu/@ScienceDaily/107843746798648085
A serious approach to recycling all materials needs to be enacted in the USA. Drop off places for household, electrical, and automotive should be free and easy to access for all.
