Microsoft has released their new Terminal application to GitHub, marketing it as another demonstration of their commitment to "open source". While the project is MIT licensed, did you know it is inextricably linked and dependent upon numerous proprietary SDK tools, headers, and the Visual C++ ATL.

Do not be fooled, see through the mirage of feigned support to undermine and sabotage the original ethics of the free software movement!

If you think something is worth discussing, then you shouldn't censor it. Being not willing to discuss or understand something means you have no interest in it. Refusing to study something isn't a scientific approach. Refusing to study something and hoping it'll go away is a faith-based approach. I'll stick to science.

The more I read about Mastodon, the more I see it's considered good form to do an post. The best introduction I ever got was my freshman year in college, when I met one of my dorm suitemates, he held out his hand and said, "Yeah. You look like a cunt.", as we shook. I probably can't live up to that, so I'll just talk about myself.

I've been a engineer for the past 30 years, but I've been a all my life. I'm all for and .

How Volkswagen Has Gotten Away With Union-Busting

Labor law is not workers’ law. That’s the lesson learned by pro-union workers at Volkswagen’s sole U.S. factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Please Let’s Never Call Uber “The Future of Work” Ever Again

It was back in 2015 that Obama administration alum David Plouffe, freshly decamped to Silicon Valley, firstsuggested that the gig economy was “the future of work.”

@poncio @funkwhale I've been using http://beets.io/ so far and it's served me well so far. I even wrote a little plugin that automatically uploads imported tracks using https://github.com/RodrigoLeiteF/funkwhale-cli (shameless plug). It makes working with tags a lot easier, since there's barely any manual work to be done.

You are invited to #Funkwhale's first General Assembly, on May 19th, 6PM (UTC+2). This is a critical milestone to officially launch our collective, and we'd like as much participants as possible!

It's open to anyone, and the meeting itself will be text-based, so book the slot in your calendar, and come join us!

Everything you need to know about the meeting like the agenda, decisions, tools and voting process is available on our forum:

Purism can't win for losing on Mastodon. First they're blasted for making it too hard to find content, then they're blasted for making it too easy to find content.

One of the fundamental design goals for Librem One, outside of privacy, was linking all of our services under a single convenient login.

One account for:
- Email

- Chat
- VoIP & Video

Still trying to get my feet under me in the federated world. So many new and exciting things to learn! Haven't been this excited about technology since I first started using OS/2 and Usenet. Day job is looking more boring than ever.
