I don't have any inside knowledge but it strikes me that all these ransomware attacks on various health (and fuel line) systems around the world have a common denominator that's never ever mentioned: Microsoft Windows. If people (especially running critical infrastructure) didn't use it... I'm confident we wouldn't have ransomware attacks.

@kyle In college (1983-ish), I had a 1972 Super Beetle. In that time, foreign car parts were a specialty that your local NAPA might not sell. I had to do a lot of repairs on that car with parts that weren't quite made for the car and tools that had to be modified. Quite the learning experience. Nowadays, parts and specialty tools are much easier to get.

They think they're "exceptional," "outstanding," or "heroic." An effective social democracy puts a cap on how evil they can be. And that's why they hate (real) social democracies, and government in general.

@kot Let's state that, "wealth is evil.", so the desire to accumulate wealth is an evil desire. Rich people don't become evil; they are exposed as evil when their desire is reached. Societies that fail to put checks on wealth accumulation are evil societies; evil societies make wealth accumulation a necessity (retirement savings, etc.).

The meat industry isn't the problem; all of industrial agriculture needs to clean up it's act. We can raise livestock in humane and climate friendly ways. What needs to happen is education and government regulation of agriculture. Get rid of the myth of corporate farm as family farm, and tax the shit out of large agriculture. No subsidies to mega-farms! People are going hungry; it's insane that grain is rotting in storage, and livestock is put through a wood chipper rather than being processed.
