Typical USA 2020 software salary:
- ~$11,000 goes to medical insurance (Employer pays same amount)
(Depending upon insurance level and medical conditions, this can easily be doubled for total out of pocket cost for the employee.)
- 18% goes to taxes (includes funding social security and Medicare)
- 4 to 7 % goes to retirement to meet employer matching. (This isn't counted as compulsory, but in order to have a decent standard of living in the USA after retirement, it is compulsory.)

@lightweight @meka I'm running a small business too, all copyleft. One of my clients is another small business, also all copyleft. I also worked for a small business (who's been there for 20+ years, and are still going strong), who also were all copyleft.

There's nothing in copyleft that would make it impossible (or even hard) for small businesses to use and build on software licensed under those licenses.

If you're a software developer who, like me, thinks Microsoft & the rest of the "Frightful Five" have way too much power an influence... the best way to take them all down a few pegs is to release the software you write under a #Copyleft license like the GPL/AGPL. They *hate* that, because they can't co-opt it like they can all the "weak" MIT/Apache/BSD licensed open source. #FOSS is MSFT's kryptonite. Pass it on.

Windows on the desktop is abhorrent; Windows on the server is aberrant.

IT departments in companies that standardized on Windows from the start can simply be accused of being ignorant. IT departments that went from *NIX (or OS/2) to Windows committed a regression, so they can be accused of incompetence. IT departments that chose to start or continue Windows based upon personal gain are guilty of malice.

Wow, on first blush, *this* is a party I can get behind. peoplesconvention.org/ The US needs a major shakeup, and the current duopoly needs to be dismantled.

I guess the Biden-Harris police state is more attractive than the Trump-Pence police state.

So in the midst of all the police/prosecution overreach protests, Biden chooses a former prosecutor who was good at not prosecuting police abuses.
