New phone who dis? It's real!
The #Librem5 is almost like the #PinePhone's big and slightly more specced up sibling - a Linux pocket computerbox bringing desktop covergence to a phone - and @purism has contributed most of the code that allows Gnome/Phosh/Linux on a phone to dynamically resize desktop apps. Happy to finally get mine and support this project! Purism got bodyslammed by supply chain issues during the pandemic and is now catching up on shipping ❤️ See puri.sm/

#Pinetime #InfiniTime user on Linux? You might want to give #watchmate a try! It's a fairly new companion app that already supports many features (notifications, music control,...) and it even allows flashing the new resources from InfiniTime!

The whole system revolves around the idea that the majority can be made to believe 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠, so long as it is repeated loudly and often.

U.S. border officials copy the contents of up to 10,000 phones and computers every year and save them to a big database for 15 years, as we first reported in September: washingtonpost.com/technology/

The biggest piece of advice I'd give to colleagues who are devs, is to figure out what you will do when software dev work moves from many opportunities writing code at a large number of companies to fewer jobs managing automated systems that write code.

Sysadmin/neteng careers made that transition w/ cloud over the past decade, the remaining major cost for tech-heavy orgs are devs, which is why the industry focus is on reducing that head count with automation. Tech is not there yet, but coming.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement about email:

"Encrypt any message you wouldn’t feel comfortable sending on a post card."

(Context: we're reading through an old but fantastic document called The CryptoParty Handbook.)

Irving Francis Houle

I just found out about Irving Francis Houle. From the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Irving had the stigmata. He died in 2009, and his cause for canonization was opened in 2018.

He sounds like a fascinating person.
