Your car is broadcasting data about where you go and what you do. And now a surveillance contractor wants to sell this data to the U.S. military, including "real-time locations of specific cars in nearly any country on Earth."

Oh also I forgot to mention what opensnitch was. It's similar to Little Snitch on Macs, but for Linux. It tracks outgoing network connections and throws up prompts so you can allow/deny them. github.com/evilsocket/opensnit

Data Double Dipping: When Companies Mine Paying Customers

"While companies should protect their customer’s privacy by default whether their product is free or not, it’s particularly discouraging to see that many companies out there are double dipping on their customers."

😡 NFT - I'm in total ideological conflict with the idea AND the technic.
Today I saw my art " Yin and Yang of world hunger" (license: CC non commercial/non derivative) on OpenSea platform posted by someone. What a shame. #nftart is open door to all type of scam...

@matrix I felt as a Nheko developer I had to reply to this quote:

> Diesen Clienten ist gemein, daß Sie keinen E2EC, Audio- und Videochat Support haben.

While Nheko on the PinePhone certainly has issues and I can't get the camera to work at all atm on the distribution I'm using, here is receiving a voice call in an e2ee room (calling out works too):

Why are companies able to get away with calling them "smart speakers"? That's emphasizing completely the wrong aspects of the devices. They're more "smart microphones" or "smart listening devices". The magic is in listening in to everything and sometimes using a speaker to respond.

I'd like to give a shout-out to @snikket_im, and in particular to @mattj for creating this awesome new #XMPP project, as well as a friendly and welcoming support community. Snikket has lowered the bar of entry into the world of XMPP by several orders of magnitude. It takes more time to install/configure your #raspberrypi & prepare your DNS zone than it takes it to install Snikket itself. Anyone who can get Linux running on a Pi can run their own XMPP server thanks to Snikket. #awesomeSelfhosted

"Companies that sell consumer electronics such as refrigerators, washers, hairdryers, or TVs in the European Union - and in the UK - will need to ensure those goods can be repaired for up to 10 years."

UK has to follow the same manufacturing rules since it continues to trade with the EU

It only covers appliances, but it's a step in the right direction
