I found a GTK #weechat relay client that runs ok on #postmarketOS with #Phosh after fixing some performance issues with it. My dream of using IRC (and matrix via weechat plugin.. grumble grumble..) how I want to on a mobile device running Linux is one step closer!
Definitely needs some libhandy love though, any good starting points for porting GTK apps to libhandy?
Adventures of porting postmarketOS to the Librem 5
"I’ve been longing to drop the shackles of Android ever since I made the decision to stop using my Nokia N900. Nokia had given up on Linux phones, and it was clear that there would be no further security patches for my favorite smartphone of all time. "

Today in The Bookseller - the UK's trade magazine for the bookselling industry - I published "Inaudible," in which I unpack my reason for foregoing hundreds of thousands of dollars by refusing to allow Audible to put DRM on my audiobooks.

DRM isn't hard to break (just google "break audible drm" if you don't believe me!) but it IS a felony to traffick in tools that break DRM. That means that the DRM that Amazon forces on creators and publishers in the name of "protecting" them does nothing of the sort.
But it DOES lock their works to Amazon's platform...forever.
Labor economists talk about "chickenization" in markets where there is a "monopsony" - that is, where a single seller controls access to the market.

One question to the #sysadmins of the world:
What is your most glorious server trashing story?
libhandy 1.0.0 released. 🎉
We released it a bit in advance to let application maintainers update their submodules in time for the GNOME 3.38.0 release. 😀 That being said, we expect distros to ship libhandy as any other regular stable library. 😉
#PlasmaBigscreen on your #postmarketOS device, soon this can be a reality! I have a #Pine64 A64LTS outputting it to my TV.
Still some work to do, like getting remote control working, but it's getting there. And yes, this is with #MyCroft integration!

The extradition of Julian Assange is a malicious prosecution by any standard. Even critics of the man ought to condemn this as a show trial. The "crime" in question is the greatest public service @wikileaks ever performed: exposing Iraq-era abuses.
Drop the charges. #FreeAssange https://t.co/JhIrfro7cV
Read this and tell me that the show trial of Assange doesn't read like something from Kafka. The judge permits the charges to be changed so frequently the defense doesn't even know what they are, the most basic demands are denied, no one can hear what the defendant says—a farce. https://t.co/d7oYBLBvky
Remote work in Corona times has been released on media.ccc.de and YouTube https://media.ccc.de/v/froscon2020-2573-remote_work_in_corona_times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdTnE_IRUBQ
They literally re-arrested him on the day of his trial. For those keeping note: yes, they re-arrested a man already in prison. This entire process is less trial than Soviet joke. https://t.co/xHli8Hgv1f
If I were to create an advertisement for #RSS, it would be like this:
"Do not let GAFAM curate the web for you. Curate it yourself. Use RSS feeds."
Feel free to steal this. 😉
Can we please, please – PLEASE! not make the nonsensical US date format month/day/year the default in applications? 🤦♂️
PRE 👏 TTY 👏 PLEASE
And to all users of that format: it makes no sense, it's counter-intuitive, it makes collaboration frustrating, it introduces inconsistencies and errors... Just stop. Please. Use international standards.
(And don't get me started on your other units of weights, volumes and distances. Bloody hell.)
Boost if I'm right.
