If you are using mobile linux with T-mobile/a T-mobile MVNO, you may have noticed that sending MMSes stopped working recently.

I figured out the issue and released a new version of mmsd-tng to fix it:

1.x uses libsoup2 and 2.x uses libsoup3, there shouldn't be any differences between the versions besides that.

After almost 2 months using Mastodon and not using twitter here are my conclusions

- It's easy to control your TL in Mastodon, follow a lot of interesting people, create lists so you don't loose a lot of posts and that's it, sure you can do the same on twitter, but that's not how the app want's to be used, so it could be a bit of a struggle

- Twitter thrives on conflict, sure Mastodon is a bit of a echo chamber, but twitter really has a knack to put posts that have a high probability to make your blood boil constantly front and center in your TL.

- Most instances on Mastodon actually know what free speech is and have clear rules against hate speech and bullying, harassment and the heartwarming things that were often seen on twitter like doxxing, stalking and so on. Is it perfect, hell no, but I feel that there is a openness to learn and improve, not dig deeper and deeper trenches

- The biggest positive twitter has or had, even this is changing, were it's users.

- The future is hard to imagine at this point, but I'm truly curious to see how this is going to turn out

It's not yet widely acknowledged and realized that Elon Musk has jettisoned the principle of rule of law, which we still assume in our day-to-day.

Twitter still has official policies and rules, but they are not evenly enforced. That is a feature, not a bug. The PRC constitution protects freedom of speech and religion but this is not enforced; its laws criminalize corruption and Xi Jinping has cracked down on it, but he will never punish the corrupt among his friends and family. Like a Peruvian dictator once said, "For my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law."

It's more resemblant of the kings and emperors of yesteryear than modern society. Courtiers vied for positions such as the "Groom of the Stool", which assisted the king in using the bathroom, because access and trust were paramount to power.

But unlike then, premodern concepts of law are no longer the norm, and there are no feudal laws tying peasants to the land. That may spell the end for Elon's Twitter.
