I never used Google input as a daily driver, but I think it is more learning based.
But, may people has contacted me saying that Indic Keyboard is more reliable and predictable, which google is not.

Indic Keyboard uses Mozhi and Swanalekha for transliteration. Both are different standards, and Google's again different.
Please check their documentations on how to write.
