Indian Physicist C.V. Raman died #OTD in 1970.

Using a spectrograph that he developed, he and his student K. S. Krishnan discovered that when light traverses a transparent material, the deflected light changes its wavelength and frequency. This phenomenon, a hitherto unknown type of scattering of light, was subsequently termed the Raman effect or Raman scattering. Raman received the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics. via @wikipedia

4 days ago, Musk promoted anti semitism in a tweet, and Ron DeSantis does not dare condemn it, but instead tries to claim he has not seen the tweet which is all over the mainstream media.

Think about that: A candidate for president does not dare to critizise a businessman, because that businessman controls the social media site used in his political campaign.

Quick note on my #photography stuff.

Many the photos I post here are best viewed as large (2x3' and up) prints. That's unfortunate, because large prints are expensive to produce and cumbersome to handle and display. But no current monitor can capture the resolution and viewing experience of a proper print.

I don't (currently) sell prints, but if you want one, you can generally download the full resolution version of my photos from the Flickr link and have one made at a local print shop.

Signal is a nonprofit. But what does this mean in practice? Today we do something most tech co’s avoid: talk money. What does it cost for Signal to play in a lane dominated by billion $ corporations, while rejecting the surveillance business model?
