@jajo Even if Mastodon GmbH is located in Europe, the code is written by many - when I check the GitHub page for Mastodon sw, it has 708 contributors. I do not know their location, but I am sure many are not in Europe. Also, if you see Mastodon as the product we use, ie all instances based on the Mastodon sw that forms the Mastodon network, it is far beyond Europe. So, I would rather see Mastodon as "Made in Distributed", "Made on Earth", "Made by People", "Made by Contributors" etc.

Tip on Mastodon "verification": There's no such thing as a universally "verified" user here, that being the nature of federated namespaces with different policies.

However, if you have control over a website that's strongly associated with you, you can put a specially-formed link on it to your profile here and it will show up with a checkmark next to it in your profile.

The checkmark is trustworthy only to the extent you trust the user's instance to correctly verify that the link is there.

So the old hidden feature of accessing Mastodon accounts via RSS has done the rounds again. If you missed it, just add .rss to a user URL, e.g.

mastodon.online/@vivaldibrowse

How might you use this? Well here is an idea, subscribe to yourself in an RSS reader and then use the RSS reader's search function to quickly find your old posts.

Oh… did we mention that Vivaldi has an RSS reader built in? 😉

@Ker_Goz It's difficult to compare the two context. And I am no expert in US-politics, at least better knowledge in Swedish. In addition to left-right, another dimension is often added here; "GAL-TAN" (will not explain noe). If one place, I would define liberals to be in between left-right in Sw context, leaning to the right side. Even the Conservative party ("Moderaterna") defines themselves as "liberal-conservative". I think many from US-perspective sees all Swedish parties as left. Complex!

In Sweden, blue means right.
In USA, blue means left.
In Sweden, red means left.
In USA, red means right.
In Sweden, a republikan tends to be left/middle/liberal and less often right (Republikan means you want Sweden become a republic, currently a monarchy.)
In USA, a republican is right.

If I understand it correctly... and I know I simplify descriptions.

Fantastic #fedi friends,

I'm not saying this in some kind of reaction to any current event. This is just what I'm feeling:

Let us keep cultivating this space that is ours; that is filled with #support, #learning, & #humility; that is putting our ideals of a #cooperative, #just, & #sustainable world into practice. Let us keep being the #change that we want to see.

Never, ever, ever stop.

@thunderbird Sounds good! Is it (can it) be same Ff sync account as for Ff sync, or is it only shared platform?

@isobelsverkstad Kommer du själv bli överraskad av vad som händer i dagens skrivna romanrader? Njut i dagens drömliv!

@BrideOfLinux Installation of LM21 is very fast and easy to install if you choose the easiest config alternatives. But as soon as you consider anything more advanced in the installation, it becomes much more complex to choose and understand what it means and what is best for me. That is my reflection who have installed LM several times and releases. Options are good but also requires informed decisions.

@bluesabre I like you suggest RSS. I have restarted this year to use RSS again. I started with review of how my own site handle feeds, which it does on blog posts. RSS (and Atom) is really a good tool.

@sri @gnome @kde It's fine with Gnome and KDE desktops for anyone who prefer them. But I rather take Cinnamon or Xfce... (although I think Cinnamon is Gnome-related). Anyway, I'm more and more walking to Linux over last years.
