The government can't justify its TikTok ban by simply asserting national security interests. The First Amendment requires that any regulation of speech like the ban be precise and necessary, even for national security concerns. eff.org/press/releases/governm

"#iPhones and #iPads are not general purpose computers" states #Apple. I vehemently disagree!!

ive said it before and I'll say it again

we call it AdBlocking because that's what most people use it for

but it's really just a way to control what elements do and do not display on all websites or some

screen reader users often need to block some elements that are NOT ads to make a site functional (although often ads as well)

Banning ad blockers is not just a privacy concern or a quality of life concern or an Internet safety from malicious ads concern.

It's an accessibility concern

As #Mozilla is busy adding AI crap to #Firefox, I would like to point out that it's about 13 years since they removed the #RSS button from default Firefox GUI, and six years since RSS support was completely dropped from Firefox.

Thus making feeds invisible and impossible to discover for most web users.

RSS/Atom/JSON feeds are an immensely useful and important tech that can help solve the content discovery problem *without* going through gatekeepers. 👀

But obviously not a priority for Mozilla.

welcome back dear!
i sure hope this shitshow is finally over.

The worst kind of tech hype is when something is portrayed as inevitable and unstoppable, with criticism or doubt blithely dismissed as "they don't get it".

Just because a giant tech company pours vast amounts of money down a toilet, that doesn't mean the toilet is going to start spewing gold coins into the air.

This year, on average, about 30% of Dutch power consumption is produced by onshore and offshore wind turbines in the Netherlands.
So far, the majority of Dutch wind power came from onshore turbines; from this year onwards, offshore will be the main contributor.

I'm happy to announce the availability of my new app "eSIM Manager" on postmarketOS! With it you can manage and install eSIMs on your phone running postmarketOS! No more need to boot into Android to do the same!

@randahl as an Italian, please allow me to point out proudly that we were the very first morons to put a billionaire in power, Silvio Berlusconi. If everybody else had paid attention to the tale of corruption, scandals, laws “ad personam” that followed - or simply noticed how we stagnated for 25 years afterwards - at least we would have the consolation of having shown everybody else how gigantic a mistake that is. Like the UK did with Brexit. But no.

The EU enacted a new law a while ago that all bottle caps should remain attached to the bottle, to combat plastic trash.

All the bottle and packaging makers, from massive multinationals like Coca Cola and fucking Nestlé to small local producers invested in the development of new caps, changing their production lines, and shipping the new caps. Today, a month before the law goes into effect, it's basically impossible to find a bottle without an attached cap.

I don't know, I thought this story was weirdly relevant right now with Apple being a whiny bitch. Imagine being worse than Coca Cola and motherfucking Nestlé.

- Optional Clapper support (thanks Rafostar)
- Improved video performance using GraphicsOffload (thanks rmader)
- Redesigned the profile fields and preview cards (thanks david_swift, Tobias)
- In-reply indicators
- Resolving web+ap links in posts in-app
- Option to dim non-trivial notifications (like favorites and boosts)

And many more features, bug fixes and optimizations!

Popular opinion seems to be that #GNOME and #KDE are "fighting/competing."

Sure we have our differences in philosophies and design, but it's way more akin to siblings having small spats. But in the end we are siblings in #FOSS family and I like GNOME folks a lot. And if anyone attacks my siblings, I'm there to defend them.

We can and we should work together as much as possible, not just GNOME or KDE but all other DE's too like #Budgie and #XFCE to be the best computing experience possible.

It's not perfect and it's never gonna be because perfection is unattainable, but perfect is also enemy of good.

Let's keep doing our best. Together.

#linux

@mntmn painfully accurate for a lot of small (and bigger) FOSS projects.

@cas @postmarketOS Ayy it works on the server :3 (the kernel does)

Also thanks a lot for the work on u-boot, having a sane boot environment is so nice, no more fucking around with fastboot!
